Chiang Mai Places: July 2013
http://chiangmaiplaces.blogspot.com/2013_07_01_archive.html
Thursday, 25 July 2013. If you stay in the old town in Chiang Mai one of the first places of interest you are going to visit is Wat Chedi Luang. It is one of the oldest Buddhist temples in the city. Construction of the temple was started in the 14th Century. It was designed as a big stupa to bury the ashes of the King’s father. However, due to political instability the temple wasn’t finished until half way through the next century. It is worth visiting Wat Chedi Luang at night when it is lit up by lights.

Wednesday, 6 May 2015. Why Take the Train between Chiang Mai and Bangkok. To Sukhumvit for 130 Thai Baht per person. The different additional costs of getting to and from a travel hub make the train and the plane journey about the same price. Obviously in terms of time the airplane option wins hands down. Even if you have to wait around in airports, get searched and scrutinised and all the other palaver that goes with modern air travel. So again, why take the train? Finally, what is the rush?

Tuesday, 20 May 2014. Jetskis in Koh Phangan. I was going to post pictures of jetskis in the water in Thong Nai Pan, but thought this will just encourage people who look at pictures without reading the text. Don’t hire jetskis in Thong Nai Pan. Here are the reasons why:. They pollute. You can smell the petrol fumes from the jetskis. The police won’t help you. Your resort manager won’t help you. The only thing that will help you is having 2 passports! Most people don’t go anywhere on a jetski. T...Please ...

Wednesday, 29 April 2015. Bamboo Restaurant opened its doors circa 2006. Ever since its inception Pi Gan stood at the helm of a popular establishment that served up great Thai food and that became one of the meeting places of beach folk in Thong Nai Pan Noi. Sadly ‘Bamboo’, as it became affectionately known, closed in early 2015. Gan has left to pursue a new catering project in Koh Chang. Many bars and restaurants not just in Thailand but elsewhere have a life span. Styles and trends change. Thos...It is...

Chiang Mai Places: Baan Tong Luang
http://chiangmaiplaces.blogspot.com/2014/05/baan-tong-luang.html
Sunday, 4 May 2014. The park is described as an ‘eco-agricultral hill tribes village’. They are growing various crops using the traditional methods of their tribes. Naturally these methods don’t include using expensive pesticides and fertilizers. For those interested in seeing how food is grown without modern farming methods Baan Tong Luang is the best place to head. The hill tribes represented in the village are:. 1 Karen – originally from Tibet. 2 Lahu Shi Bala – also from Tibet. The only downside to t...
