Ramblings of a silverback cyclist: All good things come to an end...

http://silverbackcyclist.blogspot.com/2013/07/all-good-things-come-to-end.html

Ramblings of a silverback cyclist. Cycling around Milton Keynes and beyond. Monday, 1 July 2013. All good things come to an end. I have decided that after 14 years of doing the First Sunday of The Month rides the time has come to finish organising them. The last one will be the 30 mile ride to Salcey Forest on December 1st. It's been great organising and cycling these rides and has been brilliant getting others out and about and going on to longer rides. 16 November 2013 at 08:57. View my complete profile.

Ramblings of a silverback cyclist: I'm still here!!

http://silverbackcyclist.blogspot.com/2011/02/im-still-here_27.html

Ramblings of a silverback cyclist. Cycling around Milton Keynes and beyond. Sunday, 27 February 2011. This new season has not come up to expectations so far, maybe its because of all the riding I did last year where I reached my goal of getting the AUK recumbent points record. Maybe its because I think I have to go out and ride because of the French ride this year, instead of going out to enjoy it. I got round the Kennet valley run yesterday, a great ride in a lovely area. But I didnt enjoy it! Hopefully...

Ramblings of a silverback cyclist: July 2013

http://silverbackcyclist.blogspot.com/2013_07_01_archive.html

Ramblings of a silverback cyclist. Cycling around Milton Keynes and beyond. Monday, 8 July 2013. Planning of these rides is usually done in the Oct/Nov of the previous year. The ride around the lakes is a ride I've been doing for a few years now and it is a great trip around all the lakes in MK via the cycle paths. I found out a while back that the NSPCC 1/2 marathon was going to be using a lot of the north MK redways that I planned to use so this months ride was going to have to change route. I had writ...

Ramblings of a silverback cyclist: Another long time...

http://silverbackcyclist.blogspot.com/2010/09/another-long-time.html

Ramblings of a silverback cyclist. Cycling around Milton Keynes and beyond. Monday, 6 September 2010. Since I last posted, I've been busy with family life most of the last 3 weeks due to my youngest 3 kids mother having an accident while horse riding, breaking 6 ribs and spending almost 3 weeks in hospital. Plans for long rides went out of the window as I had them overnight at the weekends. I still managed to get up to Derby to borrow the Greenspeed Glyde velomobile from Rob. Who kindly let me have it.

Ramblings of a silverback cyclist: Bryan Chapman Memorial 600km audax

http://silverbackcyclist.blogspot.com/2010/05/bryan-chapman-memorial-600km-audax.html

Ramblings of a silverback cyclist. Cycling around Milton Keynes and beyond. Tuesday, 18 May 2010. Bryan Chapman Memorial 600km audax. After last years failed attempt and helping out at the control at Dolgellau I was offered free entry for this years ride. So with the Friday booked off work this year it was that time again to head west towards Chepstow and the start of the Bryan Chapman memorial 600km audax ride. These were to start not far after the stop, once past Machynlleth the road started to climb p...

Still Going to Extremes: 30 years in the waiting

http://datameisterextremes.blogspot.com/2010/08/30-years-in-waiting.html

Still Going to Extremes. The Largely Irrelevant Weight-loss ticker. Friday, 6 August 2010. 30 years in the waiting. Is billed around Bourg. In my first teenage exposure to the Tour de. France on, I believe. With its 21 numbered hairpins. And it always seemed to be won by Dutchmen, Joop. In 1976, and Hennie. The following 2 years. It's still referred to in some circles. As 'the dutch mountain' and rumoured that the local population in the summer months is 60% dutch. I can't vouch for the numbers, but ...

Still Going to Extremes. The Largely Irrelevant Weight-loss ticker. Sunday, 31 January 2010. Christmas is cancelled - again. Today, Sunday 31st January, was supposed to be the re-run of the Whitegate Xmas Audax postponed due to bad weather on the Sunday prior to Christmas. Having spent most of yesterday faffing, getting cold weather gear together etc, the car was loaded last night ready for an early off this morning. 300 miles for January, down on last year, but last year wasn't quite as cold. Getting in...

Still Going to Extremes. The Largely Irrelevant Weight-loss ticker. Saturday, 26 June 2010. As ready as I'm getting. Amazingly, I have managed to get everything I don't want in my pockets into the Carradice. Obviously, in the first stop in the middle of the night, it will all come spilling out, and the trick will be to get it all back in again. 1 Lands End 0km, 06:00 Monday. 2 King Harry Ferry 60km, 09:45 Monday. 137km, 14:29 Monday. 205km, 18:47 Monday. 272km, 22:56 Monday. 333km, 02:24 Tuesday. http://datameisterextremes.blogspot.com/2011_01_01_archive.html

Still Going to Extremes. The Largely Irrelevant Weight-loss ticker. Monday, 3 January 2011. Since I ended up being completely useless last year, there will be no new blog for 2011, this one will have to continue. Last years unmet targets will become this years targets, with a couple added/changed for good measure. Could do better". I remember seeing that on more than a few school report, and it rings true now. 9:00 on the Etape. Dales - Fail. Reset for 2011. Will be trialling this year. Subscribe to: Pos...

Straight on at roundabout. 52 Weeks to PBP. Damon Peacock's video. Vorsprung's Blog about Audaxing. YACF – cycling forum. A sunny autumn ride. November 8, 2009, 11:37 am. Saturday 7 November 2009 After a week back commuting into London I was feeling a bit rusty. And my general slowness was not helped by Dan’s 18. Birthday party on Friday night. But the sun was shining and Saturday chores done I dragged the bike out. Blog at WordPress.com. Straight on at roundabout.

Straight on at roundabout. 52 Weeks to PBP. Damon Peacock's video. Vorsprung's Blog about Audaxing. YACF – cycling forum. Between the ears – the hard bit of a 600. October 27, 2009, 11:07 pm. After my first attempt at a 600K ride in May 2003 I was left feeling rather flat. It was to be a few years before I got to lay that particular ghost to rest. In fact it was 2007 the next PBP year before I attempted an SR. And in the intervening years I hardly rode at all. Secondly the weather was truly atrocious fro...

Straight on at roundabout. 52 Weeks to PBP. Damon Peacock's video. Vorsprung's Blog about Audaxing. YACF – cycling forum. 400 out of Reading. September 21, 2009, 8:22 pm. In 2003 I rode two 400k events both were very memorable for a number of reasons. To win it I had to ride in a single season events of 200, 300, 400 and 600 kilometres. And it also happened to be the year when an SR series was the necessary qualification to enter the fabled Paris Brest Paris audax. Once on the move again I quickly got lo...

Still Going to Extremes: March 2010

http://datameisterextremes.blogspot.com/2010_03_01_archive.html

Still Going to Extremes. The Largely Irrelevant Weight-loss ticker. Tuesday, 30 March 2010. I remember last years Cheshire Cat somewhat less than fondly. My training (you couldn't call it that, really) was ineffective, and my preparations worse. Riding my miles in the form of a 200km ride once a fortnight was not working. My weight was gargantuan, and the Cat found me out. I nearly died on that climb last year. This year the St John's Ambulance didn't even reach for the defibrillator. I now have one more.

Still Going to Extremes. The Largely Irrelevant Weight-loss ticker. Thursday, 25 February 2010. The Diet from Hell! Shortly before Christmas, I was prescribed a course of antibiotics originally intended for carthorses. They made me feel so ill, I ended up not completing the course. The problem cleared up. Hmmm", says physician, "we need to clear that up. Rather than medication how good are you at keeping to diets? Stupid question really, I mean, look at me! On this regime, I am NOT allowed:. Still Going to Extremes: October 2011

http://datameisterextremes.blogspot.com/2011_10_01_archive.html

Still Going to Extremes. The Largely Irrelevant Weight-loss ticker. Tuesday, 4 October 2011. It's been a long naff year, and I have been a disillusioned and lazy git. Somehow along the way I have managed to accumulate over 3,000 miles to date, but I haven't been quick, and I haven't been light. I think the main problem is not setting myself a single, big, stretching target, and coupled with a dodgy few work months at the start of the year this just left me feeling, well, a bit 'meh! So far, I have gone f...
