Still Going to Extremes: 30 years in the waiting
http://datameisterextremes.blogspot.com/2010/08/30-years-in-waiting.html
Still Going to Extremes. The Largely Irrelevant Weight-loss ticker. Friday, 6 August 2010. 30 years in the waiting. Is billed around Bourg. In my first teenage exposure to the Tour de. France on, I believe. With its 21 numbered hairpins. And it always seemed to be won by Dutchmen, Joop. In 1976, and Hennie. The following 2 years. It's still referred to in some circles. As 'the dutch mountain' and rumoured that the local population in the summer months is 60% dutch. I can't vouch for the numbers, but ...

Still Going to Extremes. The Largely Irrelevant Weight-loss ticker. Sunday, 31 January 2010. Christmas is cancelled - again. Today, Sunday 31st January, was supposed to be the re-run of the Whitegate Xmas Audax postponed due to bad weather on the Sunday prior to Christmas. Having spent most of yesterday faffing, getting cold weather gear together etc, the car was loaded last night ready for an early off this morning. 300 miles for January, down on last year, but last year wasn't quite as cold. Getting in...

Still Going to Extremes. The Largely Irrelevant Weight-loss ticker. Saturday, 26 June 2010. As ready as I'm getting. Amazingly, I have managed to get everything I don't want in my pockets into the Carradice. Obviously, in the first stop in the middle of the night, it will all come spilling out, and the trick will be to get it all back in again. 1 Lands End 0km, 06:00 Monday. 2 King Harry Ferry 60km, 09:45 Monday. 137km, 14:29 Monday. 205km, 18:47 Monday. 272km, 22:56 Monday. 333km, 02:24 Tuesday. Still Going to Extremes. The Largely Irrelevant Weight-loss ticker. Monday, 3 January 2011. Since I ended up being completely useless last year, there will be no new blog for 2011, this one will have to continue. Last years unmet targets will become this years targets, with a couple added/changed for good measure. Could do better". I remember seeing that on more than a few school report, and it rings true now. 9:00 on the Etape. Dales - Fail. Reset for 2011. Will be trialling this year. Subscribe to: Pos...

Straight on at roundabout. 52 Weeks to PBP. Damon Peacock's video. Vorsprung's Blog about Audaxing. YACF – cycling forum. A sunny autumn ride. November 8, 2009, 11:37 am. Saturday 7 November 2009 After a week back commuting into London I was feeling a bit rusty. And my general slowness was not helped by Dan’s 18. Birthday party on Friday night. But the sun was shining and Saturday chores done I dragged the bike out. Blog at WordPress.com. Straight on at roundabout.

Straight on at roundabout. 52 Weeks to PBP. Damon Peacock's video. Vorsprung's Blog about Audaxing. YACF – cycling forum. Between the ears – the hard bit of a 600. October 27, 2009, 11:07 pm. After my first attempt at a 600K ride in May 2003 I was left feeling rather flat. It was to be a few years before I got to lay that particular ghost to rest. In fact it was 2007 the next PBP year before I attempted an SR. And in the intervening years I hardly rode at all. Secondly the weather was truly atrocious fro...

Straight on at roundabout. 52 Weeks to PBP. Damon Peacock's video. Vorsprung's Blog about Audaxing. YACF – cycling forum. 400 out of Reading. September 21, 2009, 8:22 pm. In 2003 I rode two 400k events both were very memorable for a number of reasons. To win it I had to ride in a single season events of 200, 300, 400 and 600 kilometres. And it also happened to be the year when an SR series was the necessary qualification to enter the fabled Paris Brest Paris audax. Once on the move again I quickly got lo...

Still Going to Extremes: March 2010
http://datameisterextremes.blogspot.com/2010_03_01_archive.html
Still Going to Extremes. The Largely Irrelevant Weight-loss ticker. Tuesday, 30 March 2010. I remember last years Cheshire Cat somewhat less than fondly. My training (you couldn't call it that, really) was ineffective, and my preparations worse. Riding my miles in the form of a 200km ride once a fortnight was not working. My weight was gargantuan, and the Cat found me out. I nearly died on that climb last year. This year the St John's Ambulance didn't even reach for the defibrillator. I now have one more.

Still Going to Extremes. The Largely Irrelevant Weight-loss ticker. Thursday, 25 February 2010. The Diet from Hell! Shortly before Christmas, I was prescribed a course of antibiotics originally intended for carthorses. They made me feel so ill, I ended up not completing the course. The problem cleared up. Hmmm", says physician, "we need to clear that up. Rather than medication how good are you at keeping to diets? Stupid question really, I mean, look at me! On this regime, I am NOT allowed:. If I can sta...

Still Going to Extremes: October 2011
http://datameisterextremes.blogspot.com/2011_10_01_archive.html
Still Going to Extremes. The Largely Irrelevant Weight-loss ticker. Tuesday, 4 October 2011. It's been a long naff year, and I have been a disillusioned and lazy git. Somehow along the way I have managed to accumulate over 3,000 miles to date, but I haven't been quick, and I haven't been light. I think the main problem is not setting myself a single, big, stretching target, and coupled with a dodgy few work months at the start of the year this just left me feeling, well, a bit 'meh! So far, I have gone f...
