Ruminations From a Redhead. The Holy Quest for Bike-Friendly Routes Within Atlanta. July 6, 2015. July 6, 2015. I am determined to attempt and complete my first bicycling century this year. That’s 100 long miles of nothing but my fat frame atop my bike wheel’s inflated to 120 pounds per square inch … and many, many hours of asphalt. J and ML.on the Road. Sunday, March 18, 2012. Home for a While. Now home after a truly wonderful two-month, 5127 mile trip around the U.S. We went as far south as Palm Beach, FL.as far west as Tucson, AZ with a great stop in New Orleans. Now we wash our clothes, clean the coach and plan the next adventure! Thursday, March 15, 2012. Of note was the American Presidents exhibit.a painting or photo and handwritten letter by each of our Presidents. Great refresher in Presidential history. The next day we had ...

Chief Ladiga Trail - Alabama

The 33-mile long Chief Ladiga Trail is Alabama's premier rail-trail. It is located in Cleburne and Calhoun counties, in east-central Alabama. The smooth asphalt surface travels through the Tallegeda National Forest, and connects to Georgia's Silver Comet Trail to the east (near Cedartown and Esom Hill). Currently Chief Ladiga ends in northern Anniston. Plans are underway to extend the trail an additional 7 miles into Anniston, allowing a possible train return route to Atlanta using Amtrak. Calhoun County...

Ruminations From a Redhead. Bicycling North Atlanta: Exploring 45 Miles. August 2, 2015. August 2, 2015. I recently set out to route several long distance, bike-friendly routes near and around North Atlanta to support my urban Atlanta training for a 100 mile century. Google Maps painted me a hopeful picture with clusters of miles upon miles of green bike-friendly trails, roads, and even dedicated lanes around the metro Atlanta region. The reality? I was pleasantly surprised. A tip of the hat to Lower Ros...
