He wash an exceptional Naval Officer, was awarded the Purple Heart for action in the rivers of Vietnam, and had a very dry sense of humor. We were stopped at the head of the pier by a young Seaman, who rendered a very sharp salute. Then, he asked everyone in the car for their ID! State of Things as They Are.
