Garden Diary: Another Spring....
http://gardenonthehillside.blogspot.com/2014/05/another-spring.html
What's down the Garden Path A daily record of the garden. Friday, May 2, 2014. A very long winter, but when spring finally arrived, late and breathless. she warmed the ground and pressed buttons and here, by the 2nd of May, the lilacs are almost in full bloom, - the daffodils have faded and in their place the tulips dazzle the eye in the sunshine. The oriental peonies, all lacy and green around each burgeoning bud, promise a lovely display. The apricot blossoms, just past mid April. And oh, lots more.

Garden Diary: March 2011
http://gardenonthehillside.blogspot.com/2011_03_01_archive.html
What's down the Garden Path A daily record of the garden. Saturday, March 26, 2011. Spring, Spring, Spring! Two months I have been watching for signs of awakening underground, and now, finally, the garden shows sweet green shoots and lovely clusters of small tender leaves, no longer hesitant and shy, bur prepared to take the stage and join the dance! And here she is amongst the lilies. Such a gorgeous rose. I must go now and light some candles. What shall we do by candlelight! Links to this post. Burst, ...

Garden Diary: July 2012
http://gardenonthehillside.blogspot.com/2012_07_01_archive.html
What's down the Garden Path A daily record of the garden. Saturday, July 21, 2012. July 21st, 2012. Change in the garden is measured in days, and sometimes hours. Since last I posted here the lilies have entranced us with their pastel colours and blatantly come-hither sepals, and then dropped their petals and began with the business of shoring up their corms for next year's show. Volunteer poppies from the garden on the hill. Yellow is definitely the dominant colour in the garden these days. It almost se...

Garden Diary: June 2011
http://gardenonthehillside.blogspot.com/2011_06_01_archive.html
What's down the Garden Path A daily record of the garden. Friday, June 10, 2011. And since all this loveliness cannot be heaven. I know in my heart it is June". It is the time of the Iris, out in the garden. And they are really quite beautiful. The 10th of June and the garden is still a little slower than last. Year, but the plants have been loving this cooler weather and are growing. Quite stupendously, vigorous and green and bursting with energy. Words from Vita Sackville West. In time for Pentecost.

Garden Diary: April 2012
http://gardenonthehillside.blogspot.com/2012_04_01_archive.html
What's down the Garden Path A daily record of the garden. Wednesday, April 25, 2012. April 25th, 2012. What a difference a week has made! The trees are all leafed out - that tender green that only spring indulges in. Here are daffodils I gathered from the garden on the hill, just ten days ago. The bulbs in the side garden here in town were still quite tentative about making a full blown appearance. And the willows along the old river bed were still yellow with catkins. And the willows were green as grass.

Garden Diary: August 2012
http://gardenonthehillside.blogspot.com/2012_08_01_archive.html
What's down the Garden Path A daily record of the garden. Wednesday, August 15, 2012. The Middle of August in the garden. August 15th, 2012. On the other hand, the flowers which I planted in the raised bed and which get oodles of sunlight are doing famously! Here they are soaking up the sun and even making the Chinese Underground Railway customers welcome. Look for them, - they are scattered throughout the bed. The Smilebox below won't work and won't go away. Recalcitrant creature. Links to this post.

Garden Diary: The first part of July in the Garden
http://gardenonthehillside.blogspot.com/2013/07/the-first-part-of-july-in-garden.html
What's down the Garden Path A daily record of the garden. Tuesday, July 16, 2013. The first part of July in the Garden. July 16th, 2013. All the June flowers have faded and gone - the roses, the delphinium, the foxgloves. I am hoping the foxglove will reseed so I can truly say I have been successful at growing them. I have cut back the delphinium so they will hopefully bloom again in the fall, and of course expect an August flush of roses. The Bergamot does not make the same brilliant show as it did on t...

Garden Diary: May 2011
http://gardenonthehillside.blogspot.com/2011_05_01_archive.html
What's down the Garden Path A daily record of the garden. Thursday, May 26, 2011. Thursday, May 26th, 2011. The garden loves this weather. I gaze at it through the windows that this morning were streaming with rain and see the alium, a lovely glistening purple globe, and the tree peony with its beautiful blooms that only last for a short time, but the common peony is all budded up, and the true scarlet flowers on the Oriental Peony linger on. It quite evidently needs a new home where it can grow like all...

Garden Diary: April 2011

What's down the Garden Path A daily record of the garden. Sunday, April 24, 2011. April 24th, 2011. Daffodil time in the Garden. A few red tulips. The vibrant peony stalks. And the perennial alyssum on the verge. Of glorious yellow blooms. Some visitors to the garden. Still waiting for the hummingbirds and the orioles. Their feeders hang in the curly willow with a welcome sign. Everything has been watered, - the cutch grass has been engaged in a couple of skirmishes. Tomorrow the cloudy skies return.
