He digs down into the oldest strands of folk music, pores over dusty manuscripts, and uses replicas of the historical museum instruments, to recreate the distinctive northern European soundscapes: enigmatic, quavering and mesmeric. Today we rang five half-hour sessions, starting at 9am before chapel service, and then half an hour before and after each of the two ceremonies. Thanks to all who came up the tower and helped! The weather was lovely and all the new graduates looked very smart and seemed to be enjoying themselves! We start again tomorrow at 9am.

We meet usually twice a week during term time, in the medieval tower of St Salvator’s, to ring the bells. On Sunday mornings we ring before chapel service for half an hour.
