Questioning the party line. Where is the Evidence? February 8, 2016. February 8, 2016. Frequently, when ex/former/post Mormons discuss how to get believing Mormons to question their assumptions about the church, they propose the questions, “If the church wasn’t true, would you want to know? 8221; and “How would you know? 8221; In other words, what would it take for them to change their mind? I’d like to flip those questions around. If the church was true, would I want to know? How would I know? Can we fi...

Questioning the party line. Leaving the Church Alone, Part 2. July 25, 2016. Thanks for trying my little experiment. I appreciate your willingness to try and step into our shoes. I think it is important that we learn to have empathy for each other. Sometimes, I forget what it was like to believe and to hear someone discredit my religious beliefs. It is good to be reminded, so that I can empathize with your position. I’d like to suggest another experiment. Here are a few ground rules for our discussion.

You Never Really Had a Testimony | Uncorrelated Mormon

Questioning the party line. You Never Really Had a Testimony. January 11, 2016. How many times have you been told, now that you no longer believe in the church’s teachings, that you must have never really had a testimony? Since then, I’ve thought about that experience and I’ve come to a slightly different conclusion. I certainly had a testimony that Joseph Smith was a prophet, the Book of Mormon was true, the church was lead by a living prophet, etc. However…. Believed in occult magic. 2 thoughts on &ldq...

What I no longer believe | Uncorrelated Mormon

Questioning the party line. What I no longer believe. March 25, 2016. There are some things I used to have a testimony of, but I no longer do. I used to believe that the curse of dark skin in the Book of Mormon was only a sign of their curse, but the curse was actually not being permitted to hold the priesthood. Now, I realize the dark skin was the curse, and it is just the ramblings of a racist conman. I no longer believe the papyri ever contained the writings of Abraham. I no longer believe that modifi...

He Literally Just Described a Cult!!! | Uncorrelated Mormon

Questioning the party line. He Literally Just Described a Cult! May 13, 2016. The church of Jesus Christ is not a social organization. It’s not just about what we do for three hours on Sunday. It can, and it should be the doctrine, the authority, ordinances, covenants are the central focus of our lives. If they are not, I urge you to consider your ways. And we live in a world that is woefully lacking in all three of those things. It Just Isn’t Convincing. The dominant narrative is not true →. Notify me o...
