P317 7: Patrones Pink Shorts. I used my trouser block draft from my previous post to (mostly) successfully alter a Patrones pattern to fit me straight up! Cue crazy happy dance! I bought this Patrones magazine (issue 317 – June 2012) after seeing it on Mel’s blog. Because I fell wildly in love with those pink shorts that are pattern #7. It’s only taken me two summers to actually get around to sewing them. I ended up sewing these using ‘couture’ methods, mainly because after throwing the silk ...I’l...

Sewable, wearable, re-makeable basics for busy women. with pockets! Hack The Tee: Long Sleeves. October 21, 2014. Silky Hawthorn dress with swing… | My sparkling machine

Recording Michelle's sewing adventures. Silky Hawthorn dress with swing…. July 6, 2014. October 21, 2014. I did have a vague plan of what I wanted to sew for the next couple of months – well back in April/May I did. The plan was to finally finish the Little French Jacket and start some tailoring projects that I have been stockpiling material for. But the team at Monthly Stitch. 4 at bust / 5 at waist. A slight Small Bust Adjustment (as usually required for Colette Patterns). To be honest, when the Hawtho...

Ending the sewing year with some glitter and sparkles | My sparkling machine

Recording Michelle's sewing adventures. Ending the sewing year with some glitter and sparkles. December 25, 2014. December 25, 2014. One last grasp of breath for the Vintage Pledge. I did intend to complete a 1950’s Bishop method skirt dress as part of the Vintage Pledge but other sewing projects always seem to grab my attention – yes, completely squirrel’d that one. Instead 1970 glamor rears its fabulous head and a Grecian floor length flowing wedding dress appears. Shorten skirt length and bodice length.

Sack, new religion or just comfortable? AKA Tessuti Pia Dress
https://busylizzieinbrizzy.com/2015/01/09/pia-dress
Sack, new religion or just comfortable? AKA Tessuti Pia Dress. January 9, 2015. I finished this dress last Friday – just before finishing the sleeves, neck and hem, I tried it on – first thing my darling hubby says “you know, if it was grey, you’d look Amish”. Hmmm…so not a fan then? Anyway I persevered, took the back seam in by an inch, took 5″ off the length and now he thinks “it looks very comfy”. A step up, but obviously not his favourite. I used a lovely soft double gauze bought on my recent trip to...

Trying New Shapes, Papercut Saiph | Sew Busy Lizzy
https://sewbusylizzy.com/2014/10/14/papercut-saiph
She sews by the seashore…. Skip to primary content. Things I’ve Made…. Trying New Shapes, Papercut Saiph. October 14, 2014. Lately I’ve become intrigued with trying ‘new stuff’. New patterns, different techniques and shapes. Papercut Saiph Tunic – it’s loose! The armholes are also a little large. I finished these with white bias binding. I’m the first to admit that I skimmed right on over the Papercut Saiph tunic. Papercut Saiph Tunic – back view. Then as I looked towards summer (if it should ever really...

Béa's Sewing Adventures. 8230; And a last refashion slides under the rapidly closing gate of 2014. An end of year refashion. It started as a “jumper dress”* bought dirt cheap, but it was too short ever to wear as a dress, so I wore it for a while as a plain old jumper. But it was quite formless and I thought I would get more use out of it if it were a cardigan. Though she is running a Jungle January Swap. I had some zebra chiffon, and surely *everything* is better with a bit of zebra embellishment. S...
