October 31, 2016. The ice cold water trickles down my head, painfully numbing my senses and drawing out my raw emotions. I awake to the harsh reality. Mental clarity returns. My idealism abandons me and my dream dissipates like the fog. I can no longer shield myself from the muted voices of concern. I can no longer hide. I feel torn, crushed, but alive.
