Black Eyed Pea Chilli. August 11, 2014. 🙂 In addition I saved 2 on the cost of my meal by choosing the jacket potato instead of the farmhouse breakfast. Overall therefore not a bad saving on one meal! Once back home it was time to decide what to cook for dinner and as I’m going to do my best this week to reduce the contents of my freezer then it had to include something from there. It really is in a desperate need of a sort out! Black Eyed Pea Chilli. 1 large onion chopped. 3 cloves garlic minced. Reall...

Feeding 2 Adults For Less Than 5 per day. March 14, 2015. Have decided to set myself a new challenge this week which involves feeding myself and my hubby for less than 5 per day for the two of us. Starting from tomorrow I’m going to record everything that we eat and how much it costs. My only rule is that what we eat is healthy and of good quality. As always my aim is to live cheaply without compromising on taste. If anyone out there would like to join me then it will be great to have you along. Vegan Cu...

Not Just a Knit Wit. A knitting and crafting journey. February was a Bust! March 24, 2014. Last week, the first day of spring brought a lot of promise that warm weather was heading to upstate New York. That morning we awoke to rain and most of the snow had melted during the night. Of course it was only 33 F outside so walkways were icy, but it was a nice change from the blistering cold that consumed our winter. The geese returning north was another welcoming sign that spring is heading our way! I am not ...

Roasted Red Pepper, Tomato Soup and Potato Filled Sardinian Ravioli. January 6, 2015. I had made the bread rolls on Sunday (see previous post) and the soup was so easy that it felt like no chore at all. Both were healthy, filling and delicious. Roasted Red Pepper and Tomato Soup. 1 large red pepper halved and de-seeded. 1/2 onion, unpeeled and halved. 2 cloves of garlic, unpeeled. 2 sticks of celery, sliced and chopped. Pre heat oven to gas mark 4. Serve with homemade bread rolls (see earlier post).

Week 2 of Seed Sowing. February 8, 2015. Following on from my last weeks post I am really pleased to update that many of the seeds that I sowed have already sprouted! 🙂 Some are looking a little leggy because of the short light days but I’m hoping that if I pot them on deeply then they will be fine. I believe that the part of the stem that is buried grows extra roots! I have replaced them in the propagator with :-. 25 Mixed Aubergine (Mr Fothergills – cost 95p). Total cost of seeds sown today = 3.76.
