Monday, March 31, 2014. Petroglyphs from Continents Apart: Comparing Gobekli Tepe to Petroglyph National Monument. Petroglyph National Monument, New Mexico. A recent visit to Petroglyph National Monument in New Mexico brought out my armchair archeologist hat, and the following is from my observations and research about the similarities and differences between two sites that are thousands of miles apart: Gobekli Tepe of southeastern Turkey, and Petroglyph National Monument near Albuquerque, New Mexico.

http://simpsonturkishadventures.blogspot.com/2011_01_01_archive.html

Thursday, January 27, 2011. Finally a quiet moment to announce the results of a difficult decision, a stressful process, and some cryptic yet inspirational Facebook quotes that I have been breathing as mantras. This time, in the perfect month weatherwise, and with a rental car chock full of car camping gear. We headed out to explore, and quickly picked up this friend. My fear of wild dogs is slowly subsiding, after my ass-bitten experience in Ankara. Thank goodness! We came across these steps leading to now...
