Sampans, Banyans and Rambutans. Monday, 1 June 2015. I've been so busy writing books for Pen and Sword and other publishers recently that I'm not getting enough time to keep up with this blog. So I've decided to make this my last post so that I can concentrate more on writing. I hope that you've enjoyed all my postings over the last few years and they'll remain on here for people to read. New books coming out soon include Bath in the Great War, Gloucester in the Great War and Glasgow in the Great War.

Sampans, Banyans and Rambutans: November 2012

http://singapore1960s.blogspot.com/2012_11_01_archive.html

Sampans, Banyans and Rambutans. Tuesday, 27 November 2012. It's hard to remember much about the day but I remember that we played pass the parcel and mum had bought many toys to wrap up so that everybody got something. I always liked the cheaper toys and I remember being pleased with a Bugs Bunny watch! We also played games like pass the parcel and pinning the tail on the donkey. Saturday, 17 November 2012. It said many phrases, my favourite being, 'I am bulletproof too! Ha, ha, ha! Memories of Singapore...

Sampans, Banyans and Rambutans. Monday, 22 July 2013. Toys from Singapore and Malaya. It's a long time since I last updated my blog but I hope to add a lot more entries in the future. Sampans, Banyans and Rambutans. Sunday, 20 May 2012. If you're my age (50 - eek! Meanwhile, here's a few photos that I've coloured in recently. The first features me and Alan at Tiger Balm Gardens and the next two feature friends and fellow bloggers, James Seah and Lam Chun See. I think the process brings old photos alive although I'm sure that some of the colours probably aren't 100% accurate! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile. Sampans, Banyans and Rambutans. Saturday, 6 December 2014. Jalan Wijaya and Google Earth. Firstly, sorry for not blogging for a long time but I've been busy writing books, many of which can be found at : http:/ www.amazon.co.uk/Derek-Tait/e/B0034NQ5E0. I love Google Earth but when I've tried to look at our old house at 103 Jalan Wijaya, Century Gardens (Taman Abad), Johore Bahru, all I've been able to see is an aerial shot and it's been hard to make anything out. A Singaporean Story Box: December 2013

http://asingaporeanstorybox.blogspot.com/2013_12_01_archive.html

A Singaporean Story Box. Thursday, 12 December 2013. Nudes I started to like nudes when I was a very young kid. I think that topless Iban woman who regularly delivered fresh fruits to my family in Kuching had something to do with it. There she goes, jaunting up our garden path in all her natural bounciness! She had huge breasts that hung low. probably the lovelies had not seen material support since, what, puberty? I was three years old so no police were called in to arrest me for indecent exposure. ...

A Singaporean Story Box: February 2012

http://asingaporeanstorybox.blogspot.com/2012_02_01_archive.html

A Singaporean Story Box. Saturday, 11 February 2012. Since young, I've always been fascinated by the news reports in early July every year that mark the start of the Bull Run season in Europe. No, I am not talking about the climate of stocks and shares there but rather the dynamic pictures of people being chased (and sometimes gored) by bulls along ancient streets. Are these people mad? All in all, the benefits of using a wheelable hardcase outweighs the negative and I am glad to have made that smart cho...

Frankie Koh: January 2011

Wednesday, January 26, 2011. Resident Heron at West Coast Park. I have spotted this Grey Heron at the pond in West Coast Park on many occasions when I am there to meet my students (dog training) at the nearby dog run. It seems this Heron have made this place his home. The pond is heavily populated with fish, like Telapias and Carps. Smart bird this one. Meals are always ready right there when it needs to eat. Friday, November 25, 2011. Links to this post. Monday, November 21, 2011. More ways to "Chope". There has been so much discussion and debate about the uniquely Singaporean behavior of "chopping" seats at Food Court and Hawker Centres. "Chope". Is a term used in Singapore to mean seat is taken, It is a simple, unwritten rule. Simple because you simply place a packet of tissue paper on the seat you want to reserve. I must say I've note done that. does that make me less Singapore, I wonder? Food Hometown 2 ...

Saturday, February 26, 2011. Another Hawker Centre to go down in history. A group of 20 artists -Urban Sketchers Singapore, formed in 2008 got together last month to draw the Margaret Drive Hawker Centre before it's torn down for redevelopment at the end of this month. Keeping Margaret Drive hawker centre alive - through sketches. Should be tender and smooth flavoured with a well blended sauce - salty, sweet with the fragrant smell of sesame oil . I like my Rice.
