Tuesday, March 6, 2007. Terminator and Ah Long starring in the S-League. S-LEAGUE punters can now place bets on 'Ah Long' - better known as Noh Alam Shah - scoring in his next game. Singapore Pools has come up with a novel way for fans to identify personalities in the league easily when placing bets. A list of nicknames and shortened names for strikers will be used on its website, when punters place bets on the first or last scorer of each S-League match. Albirex: Eiichiro Ozaki (O-za). Wednesday, March 7, 2007. LeBron, Cavaliers treat Yao like high-school player. CLEVELAND - LEBRON James and the Cleveland Cavaliers made Yao Ming feel like he was back in high school on Monday. The Chinese player struggled in his first National Basketball Association game, after missing more than two months with a leg injury. The Cavaliers held off the Houston Rockets 91-85, led by James' 32 points, 12 rebounds and eight assists. Yao finished the game with a bag of ice on his right knee. James, whose pop...

Singapore Otah: Security guards there to protect residents from intruders, not be the nanny to residents
http://singaporeotah.blogspot.com/2007/03/security-guards-there-to-protect.html
Friday, March 9, 2007. Security guards there to protect residents from intruders, not be the nanny to residents. I refer to the letter, 'No harm done if security guards were to inform maid's employer if she goes out during odd hours' (Online forum, March 6). In this case, it is the maid who has made 'unusual movements'. Where then do we draw the line? What if an 18-year-old is seen coming home at 4am on a Sunday morning after being out with friends? Singapore Fuckers: Fifa refuses to pay more for Owen's knee injury

Fuck for What. What to Fuck. Fuck. Friday, March 2, 2007. Fifa refuses to pay more for Owen's knee injury. LONDON - FIFA President Sepp Blatter has accused Newcastle of being greedy. The Magpies seek a whopping £6.2 million (S$18.6 million) in compensation for Michael Owen's injury at last year's World Cup. However, Blatter insisted there will be no increase to Fifa's final offer of £900,000. He said: 'The English Football Association was not able to convince Newcastle it was a good deal. He said: 'Somet...

Singapore Feet: Isetan's explanation that its parent company is not able to support proposed rights issue not good enough
http://singaporefeet.blogspot.com/2007/03/isetans-explanation-that-its-parent.html
Saturday, March 3, 2007. Isetan's explanation that its parent company is not able to support proposed rights issue not good enough. I refer to the article, 'Isetan proposes payout of $1.50 a share' (ST, Feb 28). While the dividend payout is commendable, the explanation from Isetan Singapore that its parent company 'is, for its own reasons, not able to support a proposed rights issue at this point' (and therefore a higher $7.50 dividend payout) is clearly not good enough. There should be more transparency.

Singapore Insight: Temasek accountable to Govt on portfolio basis
http://singaporeinsight.blogspot.com/2007/03/temasek-accountable-to-govt-on.html
Friday, March 9, 2007. Temasek accountable to Govt on portfolio basis. MR PATRICK Tan Siong Kuan ('Billions at stake, so Shin saga a national concern'; ST, March 3) was understandably concerned that if Temasek Holdings' investment in Shin Corp made losses, Singapore would lose national reserves. But this is not the right way to measure Temasek's performance. This approach has yielded good results. As of March 2006, Temasek has delivered a compounded annual return of 18 per cent in terms of total shar...

LONDON - QUEENS Park Rangers were charged yesterday with misconduct by the Football Association for their brawl with China's Olympic team. The FA said the English club failed to ensure 'that their players and/or officials conducted themselves in an orderly fashion and refraining from violent and/or threatening behaviour'.
