Thursday, May 20, 2010. Silver Lining - Chapter Three. 8220;I’m Marilyn Anthony.” the clerk said “You’re buying too much for a weekender. . .must be planning on staying around a while.”. 8220;I hope so. A friend and I just moved out to the old Lewis homestead. I’m actually looking for someone that would be willing to help me haul off some of the stuff I’ve cleaned out of the house. You don’t happen to know of anyone, do you? 8220;Hold on and I’ll get his number for ya.”. 8220;Not a problem. Good luck!

Red Hot Ruby: Bouncing Back
http://oneredhotruby.blogspot.com/2011/04/bouncing-back.html
Monday, April 4, 2011. It was a great weekend and there were many things to be thankful for, such as:. Friday evening I was able to ride with a gentleman that is a successful competitor in ranch horse competitions. He was kind, patient, helpful AND complimentary of my horses. Kinda makes me puff my chest out a little just thinking about it. Overweight and out of shape and was huffing and puffing pretty quick into the ordeal. Pot, meet Kettle. Saturday, my Dad and I worked at my house trimming trees and b...

Red Hot Ruby: More Stories from SCR: Curse of the Black Sludge
http://oneredhotruby.blogspot.com/2011/03/more-stories-from-scr-curse-of-black.html
Thursday, March 31, 2011. More Stories from SCR: Curse of the Black Sludge. Grant and I bopped along the little two track road in the pasture. The windows of the ranch truck were rolled down and whisps of hair had escaped from my pony tail and were whipping my cheeks and forehead. The sky was cloudless and the unfiltered sun poured down onto my face and arm and glinted off my sunglasses. Stick this into the pipe there. I'm going to go start the generator.". Grant remained behind the generator. When I cou...

Red Hot Ruby: A Celebration
http://oneredhotruby.blogspot.com/2011/05/celebration.html
Tuesday, May 10, 2011. I have briefly mentioned that my good friend Waltraut, who also happens to be the breeder of my dogs, has been battling bladder cancer these last few months. She underwent four rounds of chemotherapy before finally having her bladder surgically removed. It is a gross understatement to say that it has been a trying time for her, her family, her friends, and for her dogs. Labels: At the moment. . . May 24, 2011 at 2:11 PM. Very sweet.love this one! Sunday, June 13, 2010. Silver Lining: Chapter 3. A Change of Plans. 8220;Hey, thanks for coming. I was half afraid you would turn your rig around and drive back out when you saw all this junk.”. 8220;It is something. Looks like Old Carper was saving up for the next Depression.”. 8220;I’m not sure you could call this stuff necessary for survival but he was definitely saving.”. 8220;Well, guess we better get started.”. 8220;Yeah, guess we better.”. 8220;So, how is the wolf release stuff going? 8220;I’...

Red Hot Ruby: February 2011
http://oneredhotruby.blogspot.com/2011_02_01_archive.html
Sunday, February 27, 2011. The Wide Open of West Texas. An immense canvas for the sun to rise and set upon. The perfect vantage as a storm rolls in. The freedom to survey mile upon mile. Unless, of course, the wind is blowing 45 mph and the dirt is so thick you can barely see your back fence. Labels: At the moment. . . Friday, February 25, 2011. Summer at SCR '09: Cowboy Meeting, a Juxtaposition. From just the two of us, maybe three's a crowd, to the cowpony horde. The sun was just peeking over the bluff...

Wednesday, February 16, 2011. Chad Winters Memorial 4-H Ranch Rodeo. October 10th, 2010 was our 2nd Annual Chad Winters Memorial Ranch Rodeo. Preparation started the day before the rodeo. Setting up the chuckwagon under the direction of Chuckwagon Master Mr. Carl Hawkins, and Bonanza Creek Ranch Manager, Steve Price some of our 4-H kids learned how to set up the fly by swinging a sledge hammer to set the stakes - good job boys! Mr Hawkins teaches all about some useful knots. Photo by: Connie Jo Mitchell.
