Talking to myself...: October 2009
http://larakate.blogspot.com/2009_10_01_archive.html
Sunday, October 25, 2009. A return to blogging. I was surprised to see that I haven't posted since April. I guess that means for the last 5 months of my thesis, I wasn't procrastinating as much. Talking to myself...: #7 - Have cocktails at a bar I haven't been to before
http://larakate.blogspot.com/2011/07/7-have-cocktails-at-bar-i-havent-been.html
Tuesday, July 19, 2011. 7 - Have cocktails at a bar I haven't been to before. As part of my extended 30th birthday celebrations, some lovely ladies joined me for cocktails and tapas at the Orbit Bar. Foolishly, I did not take many photos - just one, of my first cocktail for the night, a Tom Collins. I also had a gin martini with a twist. Must be an acquired taste, given that some of my friends said it tasted like perfume. Ever accidentally licked a finger after getting perfume on it? Some Blogs I read.

Talking to myself...: #15 - Go paragliding
http://larakate.blogspot.com/2011/07/15-go-paragliding.html
Wednesday, July 20, 2011. 15 - Go paragliding. This is a bit of a cheat, since I added this one to my list after the event, and before I actually turned 30. Although it was a spur of the moment thing, it was my 30th birthday present from Matt, so it seems appropriate to include it here. As part of our conference/family visit/holiday around New Zealand earlier this year, Matt and I spent a couple of nights in Queenstown. The main thing we were planning to do there was the gondola and luge. Am I too heavy?

Talking to myself...: February 2010
http://larakate.blogspot.com/2010_02_01_archive.html
Friday, February 26, 2010. In Exodus 9, God sends a plague on the Egyptians that causes all their livestock to die. Later in the same chapter, he sends another plague, this time of hail. The Egyptians are told to bring all their livestock in from the fields, otherwise the hail will kill them. But aren't all the Egyptian livestock already dead? Is it understood that a significant time has passed between plagues? Or did the Egyptians pinch livestock from the Israelites? Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Talking to myself...: Science and Religion: Letters to the SMH
http://larakate.blogspot.com/2011/07/science-and-religion-letters-to-smh.html
Monday, July 18, 2011. Science and Religion: Letters to the SMH. On Friday I wrote a letter to the Sydney Morning Herald, anticipating narky responses if the letter was published (like those I received when I wrote that people in the medieval period believed the earth was round). The letter wasn't published, so I'll post it here, in case anyone is interested:. Why is it so hard to accept that someone can “believe” in science as well as in a creator God? The point here is climate change, not religion....

Wednesday, April 01, 2009. 1 Leaving on a Jet Plane. LEAVING ON A JET PLANE. John Denver -Cherry Lane Music Publishing Co., Inc. -ASCAP. All my bags are packed, I'm ready to go. I'm standing here outside your door. I hate to wake you up to say goodbye. But the dawn is breakin', it's early morn. The taxi's waiting, he's blowin' his horn. Already I'm so lonesome I could cry. So kiss me and smile for me. Tell me that you'll wait for me. Hold me like you'll never let me go. I'm leavin' on a jet plane. Ethere...

Talking to myself...: Awwww...

Thursday, September 01, 2005. How cute is my Matey-bird? For the first time in his life, Mate visited the vet today. He took it quite well actually. Impressive - he's apparently the equivalent of 70 years old! I can tell he's getting on in years - he's slowing down a bit and getting grumpier - but he's still going well. Such an old bird - he's quite set in his ways! Poor little fella. I am sure he will work things out sooner or later. If he is eating food like that, then you can join in with him! Yeah, m...

Monday, September 26, 2011. Clean all the things? This was me just over a week ago:. Http:/ hyperboleandahalf.blogspot.com/2010/06/this-is-why-ill-never-be-adult.html. I was on a spring cleaning spree, determined to get our home completely clean and uncluttered. This is me now:. Http:/ hyperboleandahalf.blogspot.com/2010/06/this-is-why-ill-never-be-adult.html. Sunday, May 15, 2011. My nephew - Isaac Samuel. Isn't he just beautiful? Unfortunately for his family, he is not always this content. My brother Tim has blogged about their experiences with Isaac here. You can even see a video of what Isaac is like most of the time. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile. Talking to myself...: #23 - Go bike riding
http://larakate.blogspot.com/2011/07/23-go-bike-riding.html
Thursday, July 21, 2011. 23 - Go bike riding. In 2006, as part of one of my conference trips to Europe (the best thing about doing a PhD! Possible to forget how to ride a bike! Here, Katrina was taking photos of me as I rode the bike towards her. You can see my complete inability to ride in a straight line! Next time I'm thinking of trying Bicentennial Park - the route around Centennial Park is just too short! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile. Some Blogs I read.
