Poetic Licensee: November 2011

http://poeticlicensee.blogspot.com/2011_11_01_archive.html

Wednesday, 30 November 2011. First draft of an idea hatched in a late-night writing workshop in Guy's Tower, Warwick Castle. Some are big mouths:. The Fourth Form Who’s Who of Shagging,. Roll of Honour on the cloakroom wall. Dirty jokes and labelled diagrams, sniggers in black marker on toilet cubicles. Some are cry babies:. D 4 M, a broken heart and biro tears, smudged across a dog-eared exercise book. Compass-etched and inked initials, indelible wounds on desk lids. Lost childhoods, tumbleweed echoes.

Writing, creativity and the (dyslexic) brain. Tuesday, September 21, 2010. MuBu Blog: Foxton Locks. Miles Travelled = 37.5. Museums Visited = 1. I’d been to Foxton before. I went to watch narrowboats making unhurried progress up and down the famous staircase of 10 locks and to marvel at the remains of the lift that once winched wider beamed barges between the upper and lower levels of the canal. I also went to walk the towpath and enjoy the peace and abundant wildlife. But I never went into the museum.

Writing, creativity and the (dyslexic) brain. Saturday, March 12, 2011. It may seem as if I have been silent for a few months, but it is not so. All my blogging recently has been on the Museum Buddies (MuBu) site. But I will be returning my activities here very soon as the period of my digital writer residency is coming to an end. In the meantime, this is the kind of thing I have been writing about:. Miles Travelled = 649. Museums Visited = 11. You can find the full article here at my MuBu blog. The Lone...

Writing, creativity and the (dyslexic) brain. Friday, May 06, 2011. I'm putting together a workshop on storycraft for inclusion in a filmmaking course later in the year. Preparing the worksheets has set me thinking about the question of 'strangeness' in stories. This transition from ordinary to strange isn't confined to traditional hero epics. It comes up again and again in modern movies and novels. Www lindsaywallerwilkinson.wordpress.com said. Mmm This sounds really interesting. It is so much of wh...

Writing, creativity and the (dyslexic) brain. Monday, May 09, 2011. There comes a time when the novel or screenplay gets pitched. That's when the product of our imagination and perspiration gets boiled down to a few short lines of prose - the story in a nutshell. Here are four classic plot problems that should be clear by the time 25% of the story has been written. We don’t identify with the protagonist. She/he may be in danger, in love or in pain but ultimately we don’t care. Height='150' id='Image1 img...

Writing, creativity and the (dyslexic) brain. Sunday, May 01, 2011. Lies, damn lies and referendums. The UK referendum on voting reform is almost here. I find myself increasingly annoyed with various advocates of the ‘No’ and the ‘Yes’ campaigns, who are being so conspicuously economical with the actualité. Some of the campaigning literature posted through my letterbox in the last couple of weeks has been risible. So here is my summary of the voting options:. Governments tend to accumulate unpopularity o...

Writing, creativity and the (dyslexic) brain. Friday, November 26, 2010. Smatrphones, unfriendly lists and geographical order. How should I organise my DVD collection? By genre, date or lead actor? Or should I carry on with my present approach - periodically scooping up the DVDs that have accumulated on the floor next to the television and shovelling them onto a nearby shelf? 8217; Highly recommended. Kevin Wallace - Poet - Visual Artist: Feed the World

http://kevinwallacepoet.blogspot.com/2011/10/feed-world.html

Monday, 31 October 2011. This Little Grain of Rice. This little grain of rice. Could nurture a generation. This little grain of rice. Moist with healthy yearning. Spread across the earth by diffusion. Is welcome saviour to huddled masses. This little grain of rice. Buys guns and ammunition. Loads weapons with fuller bellies. Keeps troops marching over barren terrain. This little grain of rice. Sends men off to distant wars. Brings them home from killing fields. Nourishes those mighty dreams in children.

Kevin Wallace - Poet - Visual Artist: I Wanna Be George Clooney

http://kevinwallacepoet.blogspot.com/2010/12/i-wanna-be-george-clooney.html

Saturday, 18 December 2010. I Wanna Be George Clooney. I Wanna Be George Clooney. I don’t want to sell flowers on the street. I don’t wanna wear old saffron robes. Put plastic sandals on my feet. I don’t wanna sing songs under a tree. I don’t wanna be a spiritual Moonie. I wanna be George Clooney. I don’t wanna play football on a local team. I don’t want dry sand kicked in my face. Hope for a small town dream. I don’t wanna live in a tent by the sea. I don’t wanna be a guy who’s puny. Flash car fast life.
