The Chicago Cubs: It's Opening Day! It just doesn't get any better than this
http://the-chicago-cubs.blogspot.com/2005/04/its-opening-day-it-just-doesnt-get-any.html
Monday, April 04, 2005. It just doesn't get any better than this. Spring Training has been fun but now it's about winning and not just practicing so it's time to focus. Today Zambrano is getting the first of what will most likely be numerous starts in his career. This should be a great series to test the mettle of the team. The Diamondbacks have historically caused problems for the Cubs but without Randy Johnson and Steve Finley the Cubs should have a good chance. Posted by Jeffrey @ 5:03 PM.

The Chicago Cubs: 02/27/2005 - 03/06/2005
http://the-chicago-cubs.blogspot.com/2005_02_27_archive.html
Thursday, March 03, 2005. Cubs score 2 runs on 5 hits and 0 errors. 2 run homer by Aramis Ramirez after Nomar gets hit by a pitch. Oakland scores 1 run on 4 hits with 0 errors. Sergio gets a win. Wuertz gets a save. And Blanton takes the loss. See you next time. Posted by Jeffrey @ 5:14 PM. Can the Cubs hold on? The Cubs try a double steal and fail (completing their lack of execution day) but it's good to see them see what the players are capable of. This makes it easier to actually do my job. I know wha...

http://the-chicago-cubs.blogspot.com/2005_01_23_archive.html
Thursday, January 27, 2005. Why is everybody so anxious to dump Sammy? Don't let the door hit you on the way out". Good riddance to bad rubbish". Don't go away mad, just go away". These seem to be the consensus messages for dear old Sammy Sosa from the majority of Cubs fans and journlists. I can certainly sympathize with all of these sentiments. Hell, I probably have thought most of them a few times myself. Hopefully all of this will dawn on our aging slugger because there is no point in paying Sammy to ...

The Chicago Cubs: Final Innings
http://the-chicago-cubs.blogspot.com/2005/04/final-innings.html
Monday, April 04, 2005. Somebody get Counsell out! Nothing like running the count full with 2 outs to get the base runner a head start. Why can't the Cubs make this easy. Base hit - of course. Ok - missed a little but the Cubs keep scoring! Bottom 8th - Counsell is up again. get him out! Grounds out to 3rd and D Lee picks a throw out of the dirt to get him out - way to go! Well, they made it interesting but the CUBS WIN CUBS WIN! Nothing like being 1-0. Posted by Jeffrey @ 7:50 PM. Raleigh, North Carolina.

Monday, January 31, 2005. The Sammy Saga goes on tour. I came in from skiing on Saturday evening and was immediately informed that the Cubs had traded Sammy Sosa. Naturally, I assumed that I was suffering from some combination of dehydration, high altitude sickness and fatigue (which was probably true.) but lo and behold it was true. 1 - The Cubs want somebody to blame for last year's loss. 2 - The Orioles are desperate for some news coverage. Why not just take the chance that Sammy will play for his nex...

The Chicago Cubs: Chicago Cubs 1-0
http://the-chicago-cubs.blogspot.com/2005/04/chicago-cubs-1-0.html
Tuesday, April 05, 2005. All of my preseason concerns were shattered on a record setting day where the Cubs pounded out 23 hits (17 singles, 4 doubles and 2 home runs) and scored 16 runs (eclipsing the previous Cubs opening day record of 15). The Cubs scored their first 9 runs without the aid of a home run. They scored their first run with a single hit! This was a day to quell all the disparaging talk that surround this team during the offseason and spring training. Can Patterson lead off? Not to be outd...

The Chicago Cubs
http://the-chicago-cubs.blogspot.com/2005/04/corey-gets-on-twice-and-scores-twice.html
Monday, April 04, 2005. Corey gets on twice and scores twice - as long as he can keep getting on base, the Cubs offensive machine should humm. 4 runs and not a single home run. Is this really the Cubs? 5 straight hits - 6 runs without a home run - Nomar and Aramis with 2 RBIs. WOW! And one more to bring the total to 7 runs after 2 innings. not a bad start. Saturday, March 19, 2005. Spring Training Update (8-8). We've just reached the halfway point of Spring Training and it's time to review the good and the bad. Sammy is going through the Congressional hearings as an Oriole. The new (big-league) Cubs are looking good:. Burnitz - batting .304 with 7 RBIs in 11 games. Hairston - batting .333 with only 2 k's in 24 at bats. Dubois - batting .375 with 3 hr in 24 ab. Mitre - 2.25 ERA over 8 innings. Guzman - pitched 3 very strong innings vs the hated Sox. Walker ...
