fernley family doings: The Interloper
http://fernleyfamilydoings.blogspot.com/2015/08/the-interloper.html
Sunday, August 9, 2015. Jemma calls the interloper "Thumbs" (if you look closely, you can see it has really large dew claws that make it look like it has thumbs). Troy and I call it "Doofus." It's just not the smartest creature we've ever encountered. Tigger and Doofus do not get along. I think there's something wrong with this picture. Don't do it if you have a sensitive gag reflex. Bye, Doofus! UPDATE: Doofus is back. August 9, 2015 at 2:06 PM. Oh what a beautiful cat! August 10, 2015 at 7:39 AM. Fun b...

Thursday, December 25, 2014. Not a Creature Was Stirring. Except for this mouse…. The photo above was taken Christmas Eve, around 2:00 am after I had finished all the wrapping and arranging…late night, heh. As for the rest of our Christmas Eve, we spent much of it doing this:. We were on the way home from a quick road trip to Las Vegas—here's a sneak peek of what we were doing in Las Vegas (more on the photo shoot and road trip in a future blog post or two):. And then there was Christmas morning! It's so...

Thursday, April 30, 2015. Well, sign me up for a minivan. I just became a soccer mom. The little girl just started playing soccer in our city's soccer program. She had her second game tonight, and so far she really likes it. I'd love to see her really get into it. Now I need to get in shape so I can practice with her. She's a bit timid on the field, but she sure loves to run. Sunday, April 19, 2015. Project 52 Pros: The Project Is Complete! Still Life with Flowers. Entrepreneurial Portrait for a Magazine.

Sunday, November 30, 2014. Gawking at the Lights on Temple Square. Since we didn't have Thanksgiving dinner with Troy's family and since we only get to see his sister, Loralie, about two or three times a year, we took the train into SLC and met her and some of her kids and grandkids at Temple Square last night. Holy moly! Was it ever crowded! Here are Mikel and Emily Richter and their kids (Loralie's son and his adorable family). Friday, November 28, 2014. Deck the Tree…and Meet Maggie. First, we had our...

Monday, July 21, 2014. Vintage Shoot—I'm Undecided! Had to shoot a period piece for Project 52 Pros—needed to make it look as authentic as possible in the era of my choice. Luckily I know a young woman who collects vintage-inspired clothing for a hobby. And she's very photogenic! I've been messing with every processing trick I know in Photoshop, and I literally canNOT choose one photo to submit. I should have gotten this done earlier so I could poll you all. I'd still welcome opinions! But I thought that...

fernley family doings: February 2015
http://fernleyfamilydoings.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html
Sunday, February 15, 2015. Hope you had a swell Valentine's Day! Our Valentine's Day was pretty low-key and sweet—hope you had a nice one too. And then Saturday we had our traditional heart-shaped, pink pancakes; red juice; strawberries; and red syrup. A few weeks ago, Jemma had made her annual Valentine's card for Daddy—he's getting a collection of these. This is the third year we've done it, and I plan to continue doing it until Jemma is…I don't know…30 maybe? Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). 365 Days of Sl...

Monday, August 31, 2015. Night Sky Adventure with Mom. A couple of weeks ago, the Perseids meteor shower was supposed to peak sometime after midnight in North America. After scouring my Dark Sky Finder maps and various weather websites, I decided to head to the City of Rocks up in Idaho—it was supposed to be dark enough to allow us to see the meteors, and it was the closest dark place I could find that wasn't supposed to have tons of cloud cover. Toward the City of Rocks. I convinced my mom to walk down ...

Tuesday, September 23, 2014. Another Good Sport Post. I'm pretty sure I am married to the most selfless and generous and kind man in the world. In addition to all the other amazing things he does or doesn't do that make him purt' near perfect, he has agreed far too many times to bail me out of my procrastination-induced panic attacks over my photography assignments. I just have to share the last couple he helped me out with. Here's the image for that one:. Sunday, September 14, 2014. So I drove home and ...

Tuesday, July 28, 2015. The little girl just had her sixth birthday! This year we decided to stick around for Jemma's birthday so she could have a party with her friends (but I think this will be the last year that we do that). She had talked about having a Frozen. In keeping with the water theme, I made a hideous swimming pool cake. One of these years I will remember that I don't actually know how to decorate cakes. And then it was party time! And then there was a huge water fight with giant squirt guns...

Sunday, June 28, 2015. Road Trip Report: Days 1–2. Oh my holy heck.we just got back from a fun and exhausting road trip. To Arizona. In the summer. So why did we go to Arizona during summer? Yep Arizona. Because most sane people know not to go to Arizona in the summer. Lots and lots of availability in Arizona. Here are days one and two. The Runnin' Iron Inn. We loved it and stayed here two nights. Troy had driven this stretch of road tons of times back when we worked in Monument Valley, and he says he ne...
