Over the River: car crash and curly hair

http://www.sisterkurt.blogspot.com/2015/02/car-crash.html

Friday, February 13, 2015. Car crash and curly hair. Sister Kurt and Sister Chandler. We've been pretty blessed. My last companion got pretty sick for awhile, but knock on wood, I haven't been seriously sick while I've been out here. Lots of water and lots of rest! I've started kinda curling my hair in an attempt to use the flat iron a little less, and I think it looks interesting. There's my companion, Sister Chandler. Our blue truck, and her red 4banger. I don't think the Groundhog thing works here?

Over the River: October 2014

http://www.sisterkurt.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html

Thursday, October 30, 2014. Pomegranates, family history, and Halloween buckets. I got your box the other day (We sent a Halloween box with her snow boots, Count Chocula cereal, Reeses cups candy, printed décor, etc). Tell Katie thank you thank you thank you for the little figurine! Of course we're a little lazier. Though her lazy day and mine are a tad different (I wonder what that means….). We had our first fight the other day. A little tussle, misunderstanding and attitude check, but we recovered ...

Over the River: Snow and knocking

http://www.sisterkurt.blogspot.com/2015/01/snow-and-knocking.html

Wednesday, January 28, 2015. Sounds like so much is going on with the scouts! We tell her about Cub trips and our adventures in teaching other leaders). I wish I could be more involved in the scouting here- it looks like they're pretty gungho. But alas. We see many cats, and I try to give them an extra pet for the cats back home. It's weird not getting to go home. I have a year, almost to the day! That's ridiculous, and a little surreal. It started snowing yesterday, much to my dismay. But it is warm...

Over the River: November 2014

Saturday, November 29, 2014. Warmer weather and things are getting better. Things are getting better with my companion. The prayers, the striving to let stuff go, ignore stuff, and just generally being less mean to each other (plus I definitely started using frankincense and lemon oil, which is supposed to be very helpful in managing anxiety and such.) Has been pretty effective. We generally end the day positively. Wednesday, November 19, 2014. I expect I'll transfer on December 4th. (we'll see! The chur...

Our Mission in Concepcion, Chile: May 2014

http://clintandpattykennington.blogspot.com/2014_05_01_archive.html

Our Mission in Concepcion, Chile. Sunday, May 25, 2014. Late Fall in Concepción. Last Sunday we took the Outback to Chiguayante Sur and attended the ward in La Pradera. A number of young fathers were interested in applying for a Perpetual Education Fund loan, having missed out because of the age limit of 30 years. We come across many who want to follow up on studies they have had to abandon until now. Friday was another Felting class. The ladies were learning how to make multi-colored flowers. To make th...

http://clintandpattykennington.blogspot.com/2014_02_01_archive.html

Our Mission in Concepcion, Chile. Sunday, February 23, 2014. The Colectivos of Concepcion. This week several of the ladies finished more of their wall hanging projects. This one is in the Mapuche style, with the natural colors, empty spaces surrounding wrapped vertical yarns, horizontal sticks, and a hanging trim. Finely woven wall hanging, making use of bright color and purposely empty warp yarns. Detail of the above telar. A pastoral scene with added elements, including a crocheted sun. 7- Tucapel, Ter...

http://clintandpattykennington.blogspot.com/2014_04_01_archive.html

Our Mission in Concepcion, Chile. Sunday, April 27, 2014. Our Outback in the downstairs parking lot. We didn't see lines for parking until too late, so when the other two cars were also parked, we looked like clueless extranjeros, foreigners. This view from the front door looks out toward the Bahia San Vicente in the distance. Turning a little to the right, you could also see the Bahia de Concepcion. Between the two bays is a cell tower hill. The marina in the Bahia San Vicente. The marina at Coronel.

Our Mission in Concepcion, Chile. Sunday, September 28, 2014. The first day of Primavera, Spring, 21 September, 2014. It is still raining a lot, accompanied by spring flowers in and around Concepcion. Blooming in every corner of Concepcion are Jacintos, Spanish bluebells, Hyacinthoides Hispanica. La Cueca, the national dance of Chile, performed by a young couple in the Concepcion Stake, Fiestas Patrias, 18 September. The Minches and the Scholes, Member and Leadership Support couples, were also there....

http://clintandpattykennington.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html

Our Mission in Concepcion, Chile. Sunday, February 8, 2015. What we learned as Senior Missionaries. We visited our home ward, the Ontario 3rd, and were warmly welcomed. How wonderful it is to see old and faithful friends. We have known them for many years, and we have missed them. Malheur Butte, July 2013. 3 Although we never knew whether we were accomplishing anything or not, we always had the reassurance that we were in the right place. This was a great comfort. It made the miracles that ensued...For o...

Our Mission in Concepcion, Chile. Sunday, January 25, 2015. Curacautin and Parque Nacional Conguillio. Early Wednesday morning, January 14th, we set off in the Outback with Elder and Hermana Kauer south to Curacautin, on the Victoria-Lonquimay Highway 181 east from Victoria toward the cordillera. The weather was perfect, and the drive to Kilometer 71.8 pleasant. We stayed two nights at Cabañas Newenpüllü, newly built and comfortable. We booked at Booking.com. Our Mission in Concepcion, Chile. Sunday, August 31, 2014. Elder Kennington and I now have eighteen grandchildren! Nine girls and nine boys. Saturday morning, Jeff's Brielle gave her two little boys a sister, Junette Elizabeth. Since we have been on our mission two others have been born: Casey's Katie gave birth to the handsome and dimpled Isaac, and Jon and Carrie welcomed sweet-cheeked blonde Brynn Lee into the world on our May 10th anniversary. We feel very blessed. Above is a photo of the Gunnera Tin...

Our Mission in Concepcion, Chile: Farewell to Chile

http://clintandpattykennington.blogspot.com/2015/02/farewell-to-chile.html

Our Mission in Concepcion, Chile. Sunday, February 1, 2015. We knew this day would come, but it came more quickly than we expected. I was cleaning out the apartment- which was surprisingly full of stuff as small as it was- and Elder Kennington was in the process of selling our Outback with the help of Hno. Parra, our resident legal expert. For my birthday and our farewell, the senior missionaries of the Concepcion Mission took us to lunch at Restaurante Don Quijote. Mite- legal paperwork- to sell the Out...

Our Mission in Concepcion, Chile. Sunday, November 24, 2013. Elder K. and I keep seeing these little hole-in-the-wall shops in which you apparently deposit pantyhose, socks, t-shirts, and other ropa interior, interior clothing. We asked Hna. Rosa and Romy about this, and they laughed and told us these are discount shops for brand new underwear. Whew. We were glad to know. My garden on the balcony. Hermana Rosa kindly gave me a few of her tomates cóctel. Hermana Balden, the mission nurse, wanted me to ask...
