In the summer of 2006, enjoying the cool of a summer afternoon on the back porch of our home, we were sharing cool drinks and tea cakes with some visiting friends who had attended a Hat Tea in Jackson, MS. The excitement of that day and the idea that we could duplicate the same in our town to honor our mothers and grandmothers who donned their hats and gloves over tea at church inspired us. Tuesday, July 23, 2013. Six of our sisters had a wonderful experience of a directed retreat last month. A retreat director from New Jersey came and directed them for a week of prayer and reflection. The retreatants kept silent during the day and ate their meals in another room across from the main dining room. Each one has shared that it was a good experience for them. He will get baptized this next Sunday. I was a little bummed I won’t be there, but it was a huge testimony builder to me that we have to accept the Lord's timing and not our own. We were able to witness a baptism in the zone of a less active family Sister Good and I began teaching well over a year ago. It was so incredible to see how strong they are. He is such an example to me. I love my mission. I love you all so much. I am so grateful for the opportunity I have to be here. We are working hard to do our best. and I will see you soon enough! I wanted to share mine with you.
