November | 2013 | Sisters in China

Two Sisters teaching English in China. Archive for the month “November, 2013”. Do we even have one for mail? I didn’t know what they were talking about so I just put the five digit zip code in the six digit spot. I’ve looked it up on the internet since then and still haven’t been able to find anything. Getting each card prepped for. Putting the paste on each stamp. Our pile of accomplishment with the Chinese touch. The Campus Mail Office. The Final Step – The Mail Box! Happy Thanksgiving from China!

Two Sisters teaching English in China. Archive for the month “August, 2013”. So was “Good Fortune” fortunate? The interior was well done, the service a little slow, the food okay, so all in all we’ll eat there again, but it won’t be a high ranking place even with its new name and new look. Change is good, people keep telling me, but not when it takes away the eggplant! Bring it back, please. Bring it back. Hot Soup, Hot Tea, Hot Weather, Yepee! What did that red paper say? Why couldn’t I read Chinese?

The adventures and observations of a Westerner in China. Newer posts →. June 29, 2016. Our first impression was that Zhuhai was a lot less crowded than Shenzhen and it also seemed greener and cleaner than most cities in China. The roads were wide and lined with trees, there were a lot of parks and the buildings mostly seemed quite well maintained. In the afternoon we went to the New Yuanmingyuan (Chinese: 圓明新園. The following day we took a trip to the south of town, wanting to spend the whole day at the C...

The adventures and observations of a Westerner in China. Culture shock in my own country. August 6, 2015. I read an article a few months back about the difficulties that ex-pats have adjusting to life back home. There was particular mention of the price shock when returning from China. I found this all very true. The prices were a shock. The cost of a bottle of soft drink in the airport vending machines was nearly ten times as much as in China! That is 2400% of the cost of travelling on the underground i...

Wednesday, 30 April 2014. Heal the Wound but Leave the Scar. I used to wish that I could rewrite history. I used to dream that each mistake could be erased. Then I could just pretend. I never knew the me back then. I used to pray that You would take this shame away. Hide all the evidence of who I've been. But it's the memory of. The place You brought me from. That keeps me on my knees. And even though I'm free. Heal the wound but leave the scar. A reminder of how merciful You are. I am broken, torn apart.

Welcome to Sisters in Christ! I loved-loved-LOVED my time with Sisters in Christ! What an amazing ministry. Truly, in 25 years of speaking, I’ve never seen anything quite like it.
