The cheapest and (normally) safest way to get around the country is by train and it really is very reasonable. If you’re going to Kandy or the hill country from Colombo it is the best way to travel. This is a very long list of information for people who will be staying at our house. Long and a little bit dull but, hopefully, useful and it is in no particular order. There is a coffee machine (see below). If you like/need coffee it can be bought in the supermarkets that are aimed at foreigners but it is expensive and it might be best to bring some from home. It is possible to reach our house from the coastal Galle Road in Hikkaduwa but we do not suggest that you attempt this on foot. It is also possible to reach it from the new E01 Highway from Colombo taking Exit 7 at Baddegama. However, the first time you go to the house, we recommend that you use transport provided by somebody who knows the house.
