Very sparkly on the palate and surprisingly delicate in flavour. Classic banana and clove flavours present with a very clear bitterness. S jb's beer blog. Beer, and what I thought of it. Red McGregor, Orkney Brewery. Big floral and citrus hop aroma on opening. Pours a rich ruby colour, and those floral and citrus scents are backed up by a gentle roasty coffee aroma. Some roasted and bready malts on the nose, which quickly disappear behind fruity hops. The fruit develops, citrus, tropical, fruit salad flavours, which are then backed up by a return of the malt backbone in the aftertase. Very tasty. From → 4 to 5%. Larr; Black, Asahi.

S jb's beer blog. Beer, and what I thought of it. Intriguing roasted aroma from the newly opened bottle. Pours an extremely dark chestnut colour with a lively head, and hints of roast and coffee in a lagerish aroma. Very light on the palate with a refreshing, thirst quenching nose. No real hop character, but as the aftertaste develops a wonderful slow caramel flavour comes through. Very light for a 5% beer, refreshing and moreish. From → 5% to 6%. Larr; 312, Goose Island. S jb's beer blog. Beer, and what I thought of it. March of the Penguins, Williams Bros. On opening the aroma speaks of roast malts and vanilla. Pours almost opaque, with that vanilla in the aroma really coming out strongly. Very smooth mouthfeel with coffee, roast and red fruits on the nose. Vanilla and toffee combine with these in a very long, dry aftertaste. Flavours continue to develop and mingle seemingly forever. Complex and satisfying. From → 4 to 5%.
