As we know, last Sunday was Aldersgate Sunday. We, as Methodist people, must keep on celebrating this heritage. This heritage lets us know where we have come from and where we are going – and we must be proud of where we come from in our Church! I know that circumstances today are changing our way of life and of living; like rape, alcohol abuse, and the economic instability (also the abuse of power by our leaders). Not at St. John’s! A lot has been said and done about Women’s Month, how special women are and how they should be treated as such. So, as Women’s month is supposedly ending next week, please allow me to share the following:. 8226; They are still women at heart and even though their month might be ending, their spirit still empowers them. 8226; Their Faith still keeps them standing regardless of the time. View from the Pew. As a member of the congregation it always appears to me that everything happens quite smoothly at the sermons and at the church in general. We do seem to get the occasional glitch every now and then, but this is mostly as a result of the technical issues with the computer, overhead or sound system, but these are minimal. It is to ALL these people that I would like to say a BIG THANK YOU for making St John’s the magic community that it is. Your silent work does not go unnoticed.

The period after Easter is always a strange time. There had been this build up towards the great festival and there seems to be an anti-climax after Resurrection Sunday. I think I speak on behalf of all our Pastoral Staff when I say that we are tired, very tired. But it is a good tired…. Thursday, April 28, 2011. 0 comments (Click here to comment). Some palms are strewn at Your feet, Some palms are raised on high. The people gathered round you, “Hosanna to the King” they cry! Hosanna, Lord, Hosanna!

Always on my mind. There is a song with the above words as a title. I would like to use it as a theme for this column. The line is very appropriate when I think of St. John’s and its people. It seems to me that you are always on my mind. I also need to add that as I have shown compassion, kindness and care to people, I have also felt these returned to me. The generosity, warmth and support I have experienced at St. John`s have been very dear to me. May God bless you,. Friday, September 23, 2011.

Are strange times. As we come to the end of 2010, and look ahead to 2011, I wonder how you feel? Relieved – this past year has been difficult and demanding; perhaps 2011 will be easier and better? Anxious – who knows what the future holds? Exhausted - can’t wait for the “crazy season” to be over, and life to get back to normal? We are “in between”, again. Try to see the grace that abounds, even if it seems to be quite obscure, right now. Thursday, December 23, 2010. 0 comments (Click here to comment).

I would just like to take this opportunity to thank everyone, not only from the Potter's House staff members, but the congregation and the community of St John's Methodist Church for making a huge effort in making me feel very welcome! You have made a great impression and I can truly see a wonderful representation of how the Lord is working in each of our lives! The Sunday School New Year's BASH went off fantastically and I hope and pray that it was a mutual feeling amongst all. A friend of mine from...

A view from the Pew! I can hear you, but it is so hard to listen! Isn’t the above statement so characteristic of our communication with those we come into contact? We hear so much in passing without the need to listen. What happens when this occurs in our closest relationships? Is this statement also not very apt when we apply it to our lives as Christians? This week may we really listen when someone says something to us, so that when God speaks to us, we will be able to listen to what He has to say.
