I believe strongly in the professional development of teachers specifically in the area of technology integration, which is the focus of an online graduate education course that I teach- Educational Computing, ETAP 526. I have my students develop electronic portfolios and peer review each others work so that they can have a better understanding of the portfolio process through first-hand experience, so that this experience can prepare them to implement a portfolio system.

I teach an online course at the graduate level called Educational Computing for the Department of Educational Theory and Practice at UAlbany. This course is part of the department's CDIT program- Curriculum Development and Instructional Technlogy. This course serves as an overview for computing in education. Students who take the course are usually pre-service teachers, doctoral students, or college teaching faculty.

In terms of online interactive discussions, blogs can be used for peer reviews; one great aspect about using blogs in this way is that students then become facilitators of the discussion, and as a result, they are taking a more active role in their learning.
