Norfolk and Western railway Co . ( 1941 ) This company had its own locomotive building facility. In Roanoke Virginia USA . They set a specification to provide a locomotive to Pull a 1000Ton (us) train at 100 Mph . To achieve this the locomotive would need to provide 5000Hp at the rail. ( in British terms this would be the output of 2x LMS Duchess class locomotives at the very best of their class. )The J class Northern was probably the best 4-8-4 ever built anywhere! Giants of steam they were indeed!

Good use of natural light. ( March 2013/ 14). I used Canon FE lock But with minor adjustments from the norm, ie White balance, exposure and fill reflectors. These are 6.2 MP images shot at apertures faster than F8,. Usually F4.5 / F5.6. 80 mm EQUIV. My style is natural I think? In 2007 the Motor container ship Napoli ran aground off Branscombe in Devon When built, it was one of the largest container ship in the world. Most containers where recovered. They contained Furnature, Motor bikes and bibles . I Recorded this as soon as the site was open , One of the anchors of the Napoli is now on the sea front in Branscombe Bay .
