Skipping Past Conclusions

Wednesday, January 6, 2010. What I’ve Learned This Post-Christmas Vacation—So Far. 1 “Dayton has suffered its first double-homicide of the year” is the most depressing sentence in the world. 2 There is an entire television show in which second-rate celebrities pretend to be retail or food-service ******, and say “I get that a lot” every time someone cries, “holy crap, you totally look like a second-rate celebrity.”. 3 Lean Pockets are repulsive. Sam needs a goddamn cupcake. Monday, November 2, 2009.

Skipping Past Conclusions: Five Wonderful Sights I Didn't Get Pictures Of (While At the Bike Rally)

http://skippingpastconclusions.blogspot.com/2009/08/five-wonderful-sights-i-didnt-get.html

Friday, August 7, 2009. Five Wonderful Sights I Didn't Get Pictures Of (While At the Bike Rally). 1 A rat atop a cat atop a dog, who was being lead around on a leash by its owner. The cat and rat sat perfectly still while dog and owner wove through the maze of motorcycles. 2 The Christian Coalition of Motorcyclists, who trudged through the heat bearing wooden crosses (I still say they were hollow inside) and signs saying "Got Jesus? Why havent you been as postful lately, woman? August 26, 2009 at 10:37 AM.

Skipping Past Conclusions: Or They Might Just Be Tacky As Hell.

http://skippingpastconclusions.blogspot.com/2009/08/or-they-might-just-be-tacky-as-hell.html

Wednesday, August 5, 2009. Or They Might Just Be Tacky As Hell. I hate it when children cry. It's not an emotional thing - I just really hate the sound. And I hate watching their faces crumple and their mouths stretch open like rubber bands. Not that I want children to be sad and miserable, because amazingly, I don't. I just want them not to look so incredibly grotesque on the (hopefully rare) occasions that they are. It was a good time. Anyway, I remember being in there once when a pair of girls, probab...

Skipping Past Conclusions: Labor Day

http://skippingpastconclusions.blogspot.com/2009/09/labor-day.html

Tuesday, September 8, 2009. There are times when life does not make sense. Like when you wake up to find a nearly nude Russian exchange student frantically searching for his boxers, explaining, while still thoroughly obliterated, that he has all his cash hidden in said boxers. Well, but how much. Two thousand dollars.". And then everyone's faces flatten and sag. Why would you have that much on you? So So yeah." You try to cover your shirt with your hair, crossing your arms high up over your chest to ...

Skipping Past Conclusions: What I'd Like to Say

http://skippingpastconclusions.blogspot.com/2009/07/what-id-like-to-say.html

Wednesday, July 29, 2009. What I'd Like to Say. Q: Can you recommend me a book? Whereas all I like is the world "blurb." It makes me giggle. Q: Omigod I love the Twilight books! Have you read them? A: Just the first one. I vomited glitter and Mormonism into a bowl formed out of dead feminism immediately after. Coincidence? Q: What's the cheapest thing you have in here? Q: I'm from out of town. Can I get a deal on this bookmark? Q: Do you have a boyfriend/phone number/drastically low standards? How I Wast...

Skipping Past Conclusions: The Witching Hour

http://skippingpastconclusions.blogspot.com/2009/10/witching-hour.html

Wednesday, October 14, 2009. I hate midnight. I hate being awake at midnight when I’m alone and there are drunk people outside loudly attempting to waltz. All the booming drunken guffaws with their breathy giggle counterparts, catching on burps and cigarette smoke…it’s painful. It makes me feel horribly guilty for all of my drunken shenanigans. Trying to hide behind curtains while peering through the gap in them is hard. Impossible really. Luckily these people are oblivious. The couple is in the building...

On the road of life. Land of the flies. My office has been taken over by the flies. They need to leave now. someday teacher: October 2011

http://somedayteacher.blogspot.com/2011_10_01_archive.html

On the road of life. So, the other day, I was browsing Pinterest. And came across a photo of an egg that had been fried in a slice of sweet pepper. I thought it. Looked pretty good, so I tried it. Maybe I should have bothered to read the directions, but I think they turned out ok. And splashed a little bit of water in the pan to help the top of the eggs steam. Covered and cooked for a few minutes, then enjoyed! The only thing that would have made the meal better? From the brain of. Stuff to look at.

On the road of life. Of stuff and things. September is upon us (and nearly gone). Holy Crap! I don't think I like this fact. But, there is nothing I can do to slow time, so I guess I'll just have to deal. I had a GREAT summer at the ranch - awesome staff, awesome campers, awesome horses. :) It's summers like this that make me want to work here forever! First, we had a German counselor this summer, and she LOVES potatoes. She made us some Bratkartoffeln. One day, and they were soooooo good! I decided that...

someday teacher: April 2010

http://somedayteacher.blogspot.com/2010_04_01_archive.html

On the road of life. We had a crew of about 70 1st-5th grade students here on Saturday. Talk about busy! They got here around 11 and left at 4. We had a meal, played games, did a Bible study, sang songs, and had a craft project. I was in charge of the craft - we made ShrinkyDink bookmarks. I learned many things:. Young children CAN use permanent markers without making a HUGE mess (I only had to clean a few spots off the tables). ShrinkyDinks curl alarmingly, but will mostly flatten out again. On Facebook...

Skipping Over Rocks – Running Arizona's Trails

Running Arizona's Trails. The San Tan Scramble 26k. With my last two races not going quite as planned, I was hoping for a breakout race where everything lined up perfectly and my recent shift in running longer distances and adding extra strength training, would be reflected. But, with nausea kicking in at just 3 miles, this was a race that almost wasn’t. A beautiful start to the day. The San Tan Scramble 26k. I had more training under my belt than ever before. Skipping Past Cornfields

Monday, July 20, 2015. The Haunting Quest for Happiness. I grew up hearing about what members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints call the Plan of Salvation. I can draw the missionary diagram of the pre-earth life, the veil of forgetfulness, mortal life, death and the kingdoms of glory. This is, after all, God’s grand plan for us, the one that answers the universal questions: Where did I come from? Why am I here? Where am I going after this life? The God I know does not make promises or pr...

Getting through the messy moments in life. March 16, 2014. Article by Wendy McCance. There is no other way to put it except to say that this weekend sucks! Long ago I accepted my fate. I was going to live my life as fully as possible and try to ignore the rest. I wasn’t going to let this disease run me. About 80% of the time I am okay with the hand I have been dealt. I make adjustments where needed and forget about what I can’t control. To you I say, you only get one life. No more excuses. Make t...Done ...
