But while the scenery shares much in common with that of the Pacific Northwest, the hiking itself is quite different. It's a communal act in Switzerland, hiking. Wandering through shared property. Mingling among grazing animals and chatting with their caretakers. Ever present during our travels, Cactus appreciated the fresh Swiss air. Breathing in the mountain air.

Doesn't this plaza in the northern coastal California town of Arcata look pleasant? Surely this is captured within the pages of a volume dedicated to roadside American kitsch. The Oregun dunes are stunning even if the ocean in the distance is obscured by fog. Home again, home again, jiggety jig. The end of the rainbow. The splendiforous Sierra Nevada.

Isaac is 20 months and talking up a storm. It's 4-word sentences now and he parrots everything we say. He calls Levi "Le-li," which is so endearing and reflects the sweet spot he has for his big brother. He loves to color and tries his hardest to keep up with the big boys. Levi's almost 4. Wow!
