Backcountry ski adventures in New Zealand and Around the World. Friday, August 21, 2009. Back to the Craigieburns. Late August and back to the "local hills". Just multiple laps in Tarn Basin for some nice dry topping on a supportive crust. Great half days' fun! We tracked it out. Mount Cardrona August 2009. Nice soft wind transported snow on the southern aspects with a scary rapidly rotting pack on the northwestern aspects on the skin out. Wednesday, August 19, 2009. BROKEN RIVER AUGUST 2009.

Skied the west face of Cockayne on some surface hoar to reach the basin above Cockayne creek. A quick skin to the ridge and then had some great turns in fluffy faceted snow on the south west for a few laps. Got chased out by a good ol' North West fohn. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).
