How & Why To Talk to Your Kids About A Loved One’s Serious Illness. April 22, 2013. One of my parents took this photo. I dare not guess whom, as it will inevitably begin a credit-fight. This is the second part of a three-part series I’m running about Talking to To Kids about Death and Dying. You can read the first post, Driving Around With My 4 Year-Old, Talking About Death,. Now I’m old, and it’s happening to mine. What we can do, though, we must. That includes, should the worst happen, leveling with ou...

HARVEY KARP WILL SAVE YOUR MARRIAGE (And Keep You from Murdering Your Toddler, Too). February 18, 2013. I have blogged about Harvey Karp before. His Happiest Baby on the Block. Are lifesavers for new parents and of course I am a sucker for anyone who can systemize things into checklists, so he had me at first S. Don’t know what that means? GO BUY THE BOOK! I haven’t needed Harvey Karp in some time. I was at The Pump Station on other MomciergeLA. Truth is, I have a bit of a toddler problem of my own.

BOOK CLUB 2013 - ChecklistMommyChecklistMommy

February 27, 2013. Greatest. Library. Ever. One of my goals. This year is to read 50 book-length works of serious fiction or nonfiction. All this reading made me want to be a writer. All this reading is why I got a Master’s degree in creative writing. I mean, people, I seriously love books. Or I used to, before kids sucked the life and brain cells straight out of me and I stopped reading basically everything. But this year, that changes! This year, I get back my love of books! Wolf Hall by Hilary Mantel.

QUICK TIPS TO MINIMIZE MEAL TIME MADNESS. May 28, 2015. Well You know that thing about what goes around, comes around? About chickens coming home to roost? MULTIPLY THAT BY FOUR CHICKENS. Four picky-ass chickens who all happen to be picky about different things. One kid won’t eat anything with tomato sauce but loves sushi. Another won’t eat any meat or poultry showing grill marks but hand her a hot pepper and she’s good to go. Ever heard of a kid who hates cream cheese AND pizza? For the most part, they ...

Wake Up Call: 7 Ways To Give Your Kids the One-on-One Time They Want. April 28, 2012. Someday I hope to juggle all my kids with Al Pacinos aplomb. Not too long ago, I experienced a serious wake-up call. I’m talking about a slightly more metaphorical wake-up — though now that I think of it, it’s kind of literal, too, as I was still in bed when this happened, snuggling Diddy before school, and these WERE basically the words that umm woke me up. Let me set the scene:. Muttering, eyes screwed shut). So yeah,...

BOOK CLUB 2014 - ChecklistMommyChecklistMommy
http://www.checklistmommy.com/book-club-2014
January 22, 2014. So last year I threw down the gauntlet and dared myself to find the time, energy, and brain cells to read 50 serious works of fiction. Around here we call that an epic fail. Apparently I stopped reading in August and never picked up another book. That squishy sound you hear is the sound of my brain rotting. THIS YEAR I WILL READ 50 SERIOUS WORKS OF BOOK-LENGTH FICTION. See what I did there? Too, while we’re at it, books I keep at the bedside or read for research or read for this blog.

HOW TO LOVE, STORE, AND DISPLAY YOUR KID'S ART Without Letting it Take Over Every Available Surface in Your Home - ChecklistMommyChecklistMommy

HOW TO LOVE, STORE, AND DISPLAY YOUR KID’S ART. Without Letting it Take Over Every Available Surface in Your Home. September 12, 2013. My kids love to make art. Still: this all equals a LOT of kid art coming into and cluttering up our home. Stacks of it. And I am over it. Here’s what I suggest doing to corral all the kid art, and get it under control. THROW OUT EVERYTHING 3D. I photograph it before I toss it, if I think it’s any good. See below! Or send it to the grandparents. Date the good stuff. Gaga, ...
