SO now when I go out at night I have to dodge the toads, don;t want to splat one do I? They are not always very big. During the day there is a lot of activity in the pond but there appears to be only a couple of females and some 30 odd males. This year they seem to be not too far behind the frogs.

Seabirds are an important component of the avifauna in Cornwall, but one that has been little-studied in recent years. The group currently focuses on monitoring breeding seabirds along the coast from Rinsey to Mullion. In 2012 the group began colour-ringing breeding Kitiwakes at Rinsey Cliffs and Trewavas Head as a RAS. The Kittiwake colony at Rinsey Cliff, holding over 80 breeding pairs. Foreign gulls and legless gulls. The blog has been a bit quiet recently, but that's mainly due to a long overdue holiday in Turkey! But I came back to a bit of a flurry of gull reports, all of which were quite interesting. The first two were a bit sad, as Herring Gull W:062 appears to have lost a leg! It is the sort of life one overlooks, even as someone with an expressed interest in natural history. The Rusts are all in the genus Puccinia.
