Monday, July 4, 2011. Day 47 Friday 1st July. Picked up two very tired, and pretty grubby tramps at the beach in Banyuls sur Mer - extremely pleased to have made it in one piece, and also both with a huge feeling of achievement. And sore feet. Saturday, July 9, 2011. So what was it all about this 500 miles marathon? Well it wasn't about hiking every step of the GR10. Basically we intended to walk from the Atlantic to the Med mainly along the GR10 but without slavishly staying with the route. We modified our schedule to accomodate our available time (47 days), and the weather. Every day there were enjoyable periods but I'd be lying if I said that I enjoyed every moment of every day. Sunday, July 3, 2011. Week five in pictures. Matt would just have loved this! The only one that interested us was Banyuls, but it wasn't there. Long zig zags will get you to the top. Another rocky ascent . probably to a col. The GR10 diet and the blue binder-twine keeping my shorts up! Sarah leaving Dam camp at 0800. 2 hours later . How French is that then? 1005 sheep passing our camp going to upland grazing. Bit of map studying at 2000m. Hoping that cloud will burn through. Another lovely day in lakeland.

Sunday, May 29, 2011. Days 13 and 14. They marched them up to the top of the hil.and, guess what! Phone news from exasperated campers today. After a nice slow ease into the day, they finally set off for a long walk and a LOT OF up around 10am. We're talking a 2450 metre ascent here.
