Financially, it’s a modest price for rent close to the city, and not needing a deposit gives me a lot more flexibility to save for a place closer to seattle over the few months I’ll be in the apartment, which is in Federal Way. And so, to commemorate my new start in a new city, I’ve decided to end the bloody cycle and spare this blog the fate of the others. I may even leave old pages in my notebooks! Probably not. Welcoming a relative stranger into your home is at best an inconvenience, at worst a security hazard. But when someone gives you that opportunity, it’s not just a roof over your head. You’re given a true chance to immerse yourself in your new life, a rare chance not afforded to everyone. L and T, you are unique and wonderful individuals, and you are much loved.

February 19, 2015. People ask me what the hardest part of marriage has been so far, and I often struggle to answer. July 10, 2015. The last four weeks have been the longest and fastest of my life. Every day brings a new joy, a new challenge, a new rhythm, a new reminder that my life and my time is not my own. Things I wish I would have known/never expected/was told but didn’t understand until I was roommates with a newborn:. Being clothed is overrated. Starting during labor, all regard for personal dignity goes out the window. Going to the bathroom whenever I wanted was a luxury I should never have taken for granted.
