Frances the Astrakhan Bear. This is how I made the quilted baby playmat. For the top panel , Select coordinating fabrics for your squares , you’ll need to cut 36 in total. I used a rotary cutter and a 4″ square template , as mine is transparent you can easily adjust placement according to required pattern. Meet Frances , a small bear made from a vintage Astrakhan coat the coat shrunk quite a bit in the wash , but the fabric is a lovely dark chocolate brown so I was keen to use it for something nice. I used a pattern that I purchased a while back but reduced it on the photocopier to 80% so she is about 8inches tall. Is destined for a friend as gift.
