Leaving My Comfort Zone. Once a bum, always a bum. Where the Wild Things Are: RMNP. Shutting Down the Engines. Baby brook trout. They sure are pretty. I believe this guy is a golden trout. If you have any other suggestions please let me know. Late fall means the trout are stuffing themselves on blue wing olives. So many trout. These guys were just chilling off in the creek. Everyone needs a good spa day. The aspens during the fall are unreal. Pictures don’t even do them justice. October 27, 2015. Blog at...

Leaving My Comfort Zone. Once a bum, always a bum. Where the Wild Things Are: RMNP. Shutting Down the Engines. Finding Gabe Murphy (Part 1). Gabe is a pretty cool dude. I met him when we were in college in St. Louis together. Once he finished physical therapy school he moved out to Whitefish, MT to work. We share a love of skiing, mountain biking, and the outdoors in general. This year Gabe signed up to ride the Tour Divide. Gregg is just as excited to find Gabe as I am. We got to Steamboat and bought so...

Leaving My Comfort Zone. Once a bum, always a bum. Where the Wild Things Are: RMNP. Shutting Down the Engines. Setting: Caroline is standing at the sink in the middle of the lab preparing samples to run on the GC. A lab tech approaches Caroline as she is doing this. Have I ever shown you my loose teeth. Caroline: (startled and taken aback) Uh… no. Lab Tech: (reaching his hands up to his mouth to stretch lips) Well are you interested? Caroline: (quickly and while hurrying away) No thanks. Not right now.

Leaving My Comfort Zone. Once a bum, always a bum. Where the Wild Things Are: RMNP. Shutting Down the Engines. Using All My Luck. This spent this past weekend in St. Louis for the wedding of a good friend. I flew out Saturday evening and back on Monday morning. Side note: I strongly recommend avoiding 6am flights altogether but most especially the morning after a wedding where dancing has occurred late into the night. So sleepy. May 26, 2015. Leaving My Comfort Zone. Once a bum, always a bum. Where the Wild Things Are: RMNP. Shutting Down the Engines. Guys, this winter was awesome. I skied. A lot. I discovered cross country skiing this year. And I continued downhill skiing when I had the chance. Basically I strapped wooden planks to my feet and slid around on the snow whenever I had the chance. Here are some pictures to prove it. Lisa and I went snowshoeing. She really liked it. Look at that form. So impressive. First tracks after a snow day.

Leaving My Comfort Zone. Once a bum, always a bum. Where the Wild Things Are: RMNP. Shutting Down the Engines. Pierre’s Hole 50/100. Has a way of getting me to sign up for things that are way outside my abilities. LIke the Quivering Quads. Or Berryman Adventure Race. Not long after I had moved to Cheyenne Kate mentioned that we should sign up to do a mountain bike race in Alta, Wyoming: Pierre’s Hole 50/100. I drove up to Driggs, ID on Friday after work and met up with Kate and her parents there. Kat...

Leaving My Comfort Zone. Once a bum, always a bum. Where the Wild Things Are: RMNP. Shutting Down the Engines. I had the good fortune to spend Christmas with my family skiing at Beaver Creek. Typical days involved skiing in the morning with my father and brother and then joining my Aunt and mom in the afternoon for snow shoeing or cross country skiing. We finally were able to fit everyone together, with the correct background, and an acceptable person holding the camera. Personally, I don’t like to...

Leaving My Comfort Zone. Once a bum, always a bum. Where the Wild Things Are: RMNP. Shutting Down the Engines. The One That Got Away. Job hunting is no fun. No fun at all. The only good thing about looking for a job is that I was doing it in Colorado. And if you have to be looking for a job, Colorado is a pretty good place to do it. Come to think of it, Colorado is a pretty good place to do lot’s of things. Like fish. I caught this fish. But it’s hard to take a picture and keep a fish on the li...
