Reed Lakes Crust Skiing. Time to switch from snowmobile trail skiing to crust skiing. Here are some photos from a recent ski in the Reed Lakes valley in the Talkeetna Mountains near Hatcher Pass. Reed Lakes is probably my favorite Hatcher Pass area crust skiing venue. There's lots of varied terrain and you feel like you are getting up into the mountains when you ski to Upper Reed Lake.
