In various forms, these masterpieces of mechanical engineering survived in use up to about 1970. Many examples in excellent condition are to be found. The Muldivo on the top left is a particularly photogenic model of foreign manufacture (not dated). It has a shaped, fitted and varnished plywood case. Click for larger image.

Most standard slide rule sizes are 6, 10, 12 inches in length. There are a few larger ones of 22 and 24 inches. Some were made mainly for classroom and demonstration purposes. These are typically 3 - 6 feet in length (Approx: 1 - 2 metres). The majority of slide rules have 4 main scales A, B, C, D. Others have many more.

As a teenager she often told her friends: Oh, he collects expensive sticks of wood! When the latest PC/tablet is out-of-date in 6 months it may come as a surprise that the Englishman in the image, the Rev.
