Slow Food Junior

Friday, February 19, 2010. Free Lemons and Hints of Spring. Someone dropped a small brown paper bag full of lemons on our porch the other day. Who? I have no idea. There wasn't a name or a note. Just a bag of lemons. I'm guessing it was one of our neighbors but I'm not positive. Anyway, it was a nice thing to do, and it was a nice surprise to find a bag of local Alameda lemons on the porch. . Friday, February 5, 2010. Vegetarian Farmer's Market Curry. Slow Food Junior: Food, Inc: A Fascinating Film

http://slowfoodjunior.blogspot.com/2010/01/food-inc-fascinating-film.html

Monday, January 25, 2010. Food, Inc: A Fascinating Film. I just watched the film Food, Inc. I have been meaning to check it out for a while, and I finally did. Apparently quite a few people have been seeing it here in Alameda because Blockbuster only had one darn copy left! The lady at the counter said that a lot of people were renting it. Not a bad thing by any means. . Unlike some I have seen it was quite well done and moved at a good pace. . We have had a food system that has been dedicated to the sin...

Slow Food Junior: March 2009

http://slowfoodjunior.blogspot.com/2009_03_01_archive.html

Tuesday, March 31, 2009. To make up for the utter lack of photos in my last post, I took some photos of my backyard garden. Enjoy! Santa Rosa Plum Tree. Our brand new Meyer Lemon Tree. Yes, it's official. We are now moving into strawberry season. Of course I had to buy three baskets of organically grown, shiny, stunning red strawberries. I ate a few (yes, they tasted as good as they looked) and saved the rest for the meeting. On to the meeting! Now you might have noticed that there are not many pictures ...

Slow Food Junior: Red, Green and RAW

http://slowfoodjunior.blogspot.com/2009/10/red-green-and-raw.html

Monday, October 19, 2009. Red, Green and RAW. October makes me think of orange, gold, brown, purple and deep red. This Farmer's market trip ended up having a red and green theme which was sort of random. It reminded me of Christmas. Just so you know, this color theme was not done on purpose! It just. well it just happened. . Apples, red bell peppers, grapes, raspberries, garlic, pears, strawberries, basil, chard, squash, fresh bread and raw milk. Yum. For more info. . Slow Food Junior: The Hibernation Ends

http://slowfoodjunior.blogspot.com/2010/01/hibernation-ends.html

Thursday, January 21, 2010. Well, it has been quite a while since I last posted anything. In fact, it has been so long that I actually forgot my username for my blogger account. Lame? Yes, I would say so. Luckily it didn't take me terribly long to find the right combination. . Why has it been so long since the last post? Although I have not posted recently, I have had multiple ideas for posts bouncing around in the back of my head. Hopefully I'll actually be turning those ideas into actual posts!

Slow Food Junior: Vegetarian Farmer's Market Curry

http://slowfoodjunior.blogspot.com/2010/02/vegetarian-farmers-market-curry.html

Friday, February 5, 2010. Vegetarian Farmer's Market Curry. Curry isn't something I make often. In fact, I don't remember the last time I made it. Actually, I'm not sure I've ever made it! Ha Well, I had a lot of veggies from the farmer's market the other day, so I adapted a recipe to what I had:. Carrots, cauliflower, onions, garlic, broccoli and spinac. The recipe was from the cookbook. February 6, 2010 at 10:02 PM. February 7, 2010 at 7:22 PM. Id love to hear your cooking idea! Buy Fresh Buy Local.

Slow Food and Local Sustainable Food Resource

Eating Simple… Living Simple…. GMO is Here to Stay. February 9, 2013. I had a disturbing discussion with a local organic pig farmer this morning at our local farmer’s market. When I was buying some sausage I asked her if her pigs were GMO-free. She shook her head and told me that pretty soon no meat farmer will be able to guarantee their pigs are GMO-free. Genetically Modified Organisms are here to stay. Continue reading →. GMO Food – Greed and the Destruction of our Food System. February 1, 2013. Has pa...
