September 6, 2016. Progress Monitoring.Baselines and Beyond {Linky}. The past few weeks have been hectic! Linky We are sharing all about.progress monitoring! I have been trying out new ways to collect and store my data this year, but I always seem to go back to being a paper and pencil kind of gal. Most recently, I have been experimenting with using SLP Toolkit. I have several read...

Who we are

I have worked in the field of Speech Language Pathology for 8 years, including roles as a Speech-Language Pathology Assistant, Speech-Language Technician and Speech-Language Pathologist. I've worked exclusively in the schools and have a fresh perspective on the therapy and technology needs of an SLP in this setting. I am a critical team player in my school community beyond my role as SLP as evidenced by my participation in the employee involvement and writing committees. What is SLP Toolkit?

Bull; December 14, 2016. Bull; 0 Comments. Can you bake some cookies for the staff meeting this Friday? Jose's IEP meeting isn't due until next month but Christine wants to move it up to before break." - "I can't make my bike rack duty this week - can you fill in for me? R/ you kidding me? Bull; October 25, 2016. Bull; 0 Comments. I went on a mission. There HAD to be a way to teach this sound in a short amount of time! I bought all sorts of resources, but many focused on /r/ word lists or the order of how to teach /r/ words versus how to establish the "er" sound in isolation. Others were so technical they didn't even make sense to me let alone trying to explain the directions to a 10 year old. And that's when it struck me - that's EXACTLY the problem! Show the student ho...

New Year's Goals

New Year's Goals. Bull; December 30, 2016. Bull; 0 Comments. I love the start of a new year. It's an awesome time to reflect on the past year and think about what you would like to do the same and what you hope to change. I've never been a big fan of making resolutions, because I tend to forget about them by January 2nd, but I do write down new goals each year. Speech Language Pathologists are awesome at writing goals for their students but how often do you create personal goals? So where do you start:.

R/ you ready for the next step? Bull; November 08, 2016. Bull; 0 Comments. In my last post, /R/ you kidding me? I walked through the steps I take to establish the "r" sound in isolation with school-aged students. Once a student is able to quickly and smoothly produce 10 "er" sounds in isolation, I move on to CV and VC combos. Or if a student struggles with a word like "hear," pronouncing it like "he-uh", I can provide specific feedback using the completed bubble map. I will point to the ee-er combina...
