Otto's en Marja's beklimmingen van de hoogste berg van een land
9 juli 2005, 14:00 uur. We staan op de oosttop van de Elbrus, de hoogste berg van Rusland en de hoogste van Europa. De westtop ligt op 5642 meter, wij staan 21 meter lager. Maar we tellen hem toch. We hebben immers een langere en niet voor de hand liggende route genomen en die kwam bij de oosttop uit. De normaalroute gaat naar de westtop. Dit weerspiegelt gelijk hoe arbitrair successen zijn. Mochten we de hoogste berg van Rusland nou wel of niet wegstrepen van ons lijstje? We hebben het wel gedaan.

Winter in de Dolomieten. Dit jaar samen met Antonio en Carolien in Cortina d'Ampezzo geweest. Het was een week vol afwisseling: lopen op sneeuwschoenen, een via ferrata (ja, in de winter! En Marja is ook een dagje gaan snowboarden. Eindelijk eens naar de Dachstein, bijna 3000 meter hoog met veel klim en via ferrata mogelijkheden.
