A 'Small' Bit of Modelling. Using a blog to try to get some of my cheese models to mature! My name is Ben and I am a modeller of NSW outline, predominantly steam era, with the occasional, fleeting interest in diesels. My modelling has been likened to ‘cheese making’- simply because it takes so long to mature! But hopefully this blog will change things…for the better- so here’s hoping! Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Lambing Flat: August 2011
http://lambingflat.blogspot.com/2011_08_01_archive.html
Wednesday, 3 August 2011. From the vaults-5: Fruit trains. It has been a long time since I have posted anything, and with the October issue of AMRM rapidly approaching its print deadline, I doubt I'll be posting anything else for the next month, so here is another 'from the vaults'. It was so important that the local radio station 2LF, during the fruit season, would announce the time that the fruit truck arrived at Darling Harbour as part of the morning news! Links to this post. Lambing Flat: November 2014
http://lambingflat.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html
Tuesday, 25 November 2014. Every now and then I get the yen to actually do something on the layout and, sometimes, I actually get to do it! The first project to get underway laterly was to superdetail and fit a Tsunami chip to one of the Austrains 'roundtop' 36 class I have had lying around idle since I went DCC in the mid-2000s. The work went well and by 9 November 2014 the detailing work was complete. The two photos show above show 'before and after' shots of each side of the loco. While the weathering...

Monday, 26 September 2011. Progress on the Rurr Valley. Progress on the Rurr Valley continues. Not only have I been clearing the layout and making it trafficable again, I have also revived a locomotive construction project that has sat on the workbench, untouched, since late 2005. Here is a photo of showing progress to date on RVR (new) No.2. Mt Lyell No.5 poses at the works some time in the early years of the 20th century. This photo, a quick 'snap' taken with my mobile phone back on 19 August 2011, bef...
Lambing Flat: November 2012

Friday, 9 November 2012. Back Creek Junction and the line to Cowra, developments at Lambing Flat, 2012. Once Lambing Flat was re-erected in its current home in 2003, other than maintenance and the addition of the occasional. By 5 January 2012, this was the scene on the extension. The shelf over the extension had been erected, profile boards fitted and a start made on constructing the scenery. The track plan now looked like this:. The concept of the new section is that the line has been cut alongside a cr...

Australian Model Railway Magazine: Back Issue: June 2015 AMRM
http://australianmodelrailwaymagazine.blogspot.com/2015/05/june-2015-issue-of-amrm-is-at-printer.html
Tuesday, 12 May 2015. Back Issue: June 2015 AMRM. The June 2015 issue of AMRM is now available as a back issue. Either direct from SCR Publications or online from Zinio . This issue's layout article highlights one of the largest layouts on the exhibition scene, both in size and scale, Paul Chisholm's O scale NSW layout, Arakoola. Modellers of both the traditional steam/diesel transition era and the present day will find something of interest in this issue. We weren't sure if we should publish this next a...

Lambing Flat: March 2011

Monday, 21 March 2011. Memories of the Rurr Valley. As some may know, as well as my HO scale NSWGR. Layout, I also have a garden railway, the. This railway is built to (nominally) 1:24 scale on 45mm gauge track, representing 3ft 6ins gauge, and is 'inspired' by the railways that once existed on the west coast of Tasmania (particularly the Mt Lyell railway). The locos and rollingstock are mostly modified and adapted. Models from the likes of LGB and Bachmann. This is a shot through the open doors of brake...

Wednesday, 12 March 2014. Back Issue: April 2014 AMRM. The April 2014 issue of AMRM is now available as a back issue direct from AMRM. The April issue cover features a scene on my very own HO scale Lambing Flat, s. Howing the level crossing, plus the new signal box that controls the junction to the new section of the layout that is described in this issue. The contents of the April. As mentioned above, this issue covers the extensions that have, and are being, constructed on my home layout, Lambing Flat.

Monday, 10 November 2014. Back Issue: December 2014 AMRM. The December 2014 issue of AMRM is now available as a back issue either direct from SCR Publications or online from Zinio. We haven't had much from the west lately, so we are very pleased to present our first West Australian layout for some time, and it isn't WAGR! This article will tie in very nicely with David Foulkes' construction article on adding buffers to Z vans, scheduled for a near-future issue of AMRM. Phil Jeffery looks Beyond the Fence.

How to Eat an Elephant....
How to Eat an Elephant. And Other Random Musings. 183; Posted by Rebecca. With the brief appearence of summer, I decided that it was time to celebrate by making a summery cake. Thumbing through my recipe books, I was completely uninspired by the page after page of berrylicious goodness, hankering instead for something with a bit of zest. I flicked back to my the Recipe Challenge. Inspired goodies by the bucketload. But what I really wanted was a big, share-y kind of cake. From DollyBakes and had intended...
