After breakfast at the hotel we headed to Verdun, with a stop along the way at the largest American cemetery in France, for WWI. The drive was through the Meuse River valley and was very pretty. Lunch was gallettes (savory crepes) in the town of Verdun. The logistics were incredible. The allies laid numerous oil pipelines below the channel and across France. Sunday, May 27, 2012.

I was amazed by the number of windmills in Germany. Also the speed of the cars - we weren't going slow and cars were whizzing past us. As for food today, breakfast was a typical European hotel buffet, lunch a sandwich from a convenience store on the road:. Got to Berlin late. Will start a new entry.
