Fourth | Small Town Joy
https://smalltownjoy.wordpress.com/2014/07/05/fourth
Small Town Chatter and People Who Matter. Asymp; 2 Comments. Yesterday, we celebrated America’s birthday. We happen to know about a dozen people who actually share a birthday with America, so we celebrated for them too. Ever since I can remember, July 4th has been spent at Grandma’s lake house. It’s all good. Screened porch, cold tile floors, food for days, three churns of ice cream squealing all at once, sun-kissed babies, boat rides, old people talk, cousins and lots of fireworks. Live to the Max
Live to the Max. Thursday, July 2, 2009. It's been two years. Just finished another very long day at the newspaper. I love it, though. There is so much to write about, so many people to get to know and a lot of history to learn. It's good for me to be busy this time of year. I am working the Fourth of July weekend . I can't believe it's JULY already. The anniversary of Jeff's death is July 5. I have felt my sadness for days. It rises to the top, like vomit. Saturday, June 6, 2009. Summer is here . Max an...

Riley's Story- Pars Planitis. Monday, July 20, 2015. Last month, when I wasn't looking, this kid turned 15. I don't want to talk about it. He left this morning on a grand adventure to camp in the mountains with the staff from our Baptist boys camp. He was so excited. I don"t want to talk about it. In the meantime, he is all set to try for his driver's permit when he returns from his camping trip. While he is legally blind without his glasses, he can actually see as well as I can with his glasses on.

Just a small town girl sharing her meanderings about life. Bridge to the Future. Life as a Parent. Teaching – A Journey of Sorts. February 24, 2015. Teaching, a family of sorts, has ranks in my top 5 favorite things. The connection to our youth, educating, nurturing of young minds, and the development of learners has been a daily part of my last 17 years in education. I love the journey that students and I travel in our four years together. Forced to reexamine why I am in special education, I sit and thi...

Wednesday, March 21, 2012. DIY Easy crib bumpers. Fabric-At least 1 1/2 yrds of fabric of 2 different (front/back) colors or 3 yrds of the same fabric to keep it simple. I used a really soft turquoise polka dot blend found in the minky/fleece section of Joann's, and a plain white flannel. Ribbon- 24ft (8 yrds) I recommend buying ribbon instead of sewing fabric pieces for the ties, just to keep it simple. Matching thread. I used white. Step 1- Measure your crib and or crib mattress. And cut fabric. Mi...

Ideas for integrating technology into elementary education classrooms. Thursday, August 12, 2010. DailyBooth for the Classroom? The idea of taking an image of a student daily, weekly or monthly is actually a neat way to capture the changes in your students throughout a school year. This is not an new idea but many school filters do not allow access to social websites like Dailybooth. So, how can we do something similar to Dailybooth. By using the tools available on your computer and school. Or, have stud...
