Tales in the Mist: June 2014
http://talesinthemist.blogspot.com/2014_06_01_archive.html
Tales in the Mist. Wednesday, June 18, 2014. South in the Mouth. If you have never lived in or spent time in the South this might not make a lot of sense. The Southern region of the United States is very different from any other part of the country. And even within the South there are vast differences in culture and language. But the other day one of them slipped out. It was as automatic as saying yes. And my husband looked at me like I was visiting from another planet. What did he have to say? Chuck and...

Tales in the Mist: January 2015
http://talesinthemist.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html
Tales in the Mist. Saturday, January 17, 2015. A Trip to the Southland. I don't want to minimize the love I have for Thanksgiving, so I'll begin with that. The 7th of December Chuck, Sean and I flew to Tennessee. We celebrated Parsla's birthday, and did an early Christmas celebration with Jewel and Bjorn, and David and Grace. Parsla loves her Uncle Sean. We had a great time, as usual. I love going home for a visit. On our way to the top of the Roan, the trees were covered in ice. All enjoy eating there.

Tales in the Mist: Sean performed in a recital
http://talesinthemist.blogspot.com/2015/12/sean-performed-in-recital.html
Tales in the Mist. Wednesday, December 23, 2015. Sean performed in a recital. We hadn't been back from our Southwest trip very long, so he had missed several lessons, and we quickly tried to get some extra lessons in before hand. The recital was in a public park in Gig Harbor in July, and it was so very hot that day with temps in the 90s. Unusual for us. He hated it. At first he seemed OK, but he arrived without having eaten much of anything after being at his dad's. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Tales in the Mist: Why TV matters
http://talesinthemist.blogspot.com/2016/02/why-tv-matters.html
Tales in the Mist. Tuesday, February 16, 2016. When I was four and five years old, I spent some time watching television. It was the 1970s, and the only thing that bothered parents about television in the 1970s was our tendency to sit too close to it. I don't remember my parents every saying anything negative about television. Some of my favorite shows were on PBS. That has remained true throughout my life, by the way. Many of the Sesame Street puppeteers were interviewed for the movie, and one of the st...

Tales in the Mist: September 2015
http://talesinthemist.blogspot.com/2015_09_01_archive.html
Tales in the Mist. Tuesday, September 1, 2015. House with acreage for sale. It's been a topic for four years, but we finally listed our house for sale on Aug. 1. I've done a little bit of work on the flower gardens. I dug up some things and transplanted them, and I planted some new bulbs a couple of years ago. I also added several potted hydrangeas, which I plan to take when we move, and some annuals this summer, including hanging pots for the front and back porches, and the gazebo. Links to this post.

Tales in the Mist: November 2014
http://talesinthemist.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html
Tales in the Mist. Sunday, November 30, 2014. It Ain't Easy Being Brown. I've had a little more than 12 years to prepare, but uncharacteristically for me, I've been in denial. You see, I was thinking that if I raised my son to have manners, took him to church, surrounded him with people of good moral character, and made sure that he was learning, he would be just fine. And maybe he will. But what is happening in our country right now scares me. I've been paying close attention lately. My son is a typical...

Tales in the Mist: Well, Happy New Year
http://talesinthemist.blogspot.com/2016/01/well-happy-new-year.html
Tales in the Mist. Thursday, January 28, 2016. Well, Happy New Year. Life moves pretty fast. It's almost the end of January, and I'm still trying to catch up with what happened in 2015. I always send out an end-of-the-year State of the Union letter at Christmas. And for the past several years we've mailed out a Christmas card with our family photo on it. This year was no exception. But, on with the New Year! Since January 1, we've had a lot house showings. Here is a post. It's looking bright to me! An Ap...

Tales in the Mist: Christmas Revels
http://talesinthemist.blogspot.com/2015/12/christmas-revels.html
Tales in the Mist. Thursday, December 31, 2015. Each year, if we are in town, we go to see the Christmas Revels with my Aunt Bennie, and usually my cousin Rhian. This year's theme was, "A Nordic Celebration of the Winter Solstice.". Dancing, caroling, drama, traditions, storytelling- it's all such a feast for the eyes and ears. And every year they sing a couple of the same songs, which provides some feeling of familiar tradition while still giving the audience something new each year. I Like to Look at:.

Tales in the Mist: October 2015
http://talesinthemist.blogspot.com/2015_10_01_archive.html
Tales in the Mist. Sunday, October 4, 2015. A Theory for Preventing Violence. Our television broke about a month ago. We ordered a part to try to fix it, but that didn't work, so we waited until we had some extra money to get a new one. That was yesterday. I have my own theories on why these shootings are happening. I don't know if they align with anyone else's theories, because the only ones I see are those of people fighting over gun rights and gun laws. Here's what I think:. I do believe we need more ...
