la dolce vita...: September 2009

Wow Where has time gone? I am doing things outside of the museum though. I've been going to Paradigm. College church service on Thursday nights) with Rach, and church on Sunday when Rach does not have to work. I even went to the Tech v. Rice football game (again with Rach). That was a different experience, especially after going to so many games in Bryant-Denny. They made an announcement that the attendance that week was somewhere in the range of 46,000 people. 46,000! la dolce vita...: A Beautiful Lie
http://ajreed.blogspot.com/2010/08/beautiful-lie.html
I have a new quote that did not make it onto my Twitter feed. Mainly because it's 1:30 in the morning and I can't sleep so I'm updating this blog. Is it wrong to trust in a beautiful lie if it helps you get through life? I have found this awesome blog/website: Fuck Yeah, Literary Quotes. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). la dolce vita...: December 2009
http://ajreed.blogspot.com/2009_12_01_archive.html
The obligatory end-of-the-year post. It seems like everywhere there is an end-of-the-year post. What happened in that previous year? What was good about it? This year we can add something different.what happened in the past decade? Then apply the same questions - what was good, or bad, about it? I am now a proud alumni of the University of Alabama. And thanks to UA, I am now a historian. (Can I call myself that if I just have the degree, but little experience? I have three unpublished papers, and wrote a...

la dolce vita...: Time to begin a new adventure
http://ajreed.blogspot.com/2011/07/time-to-begin-new-adventure.html
Time to begin a new adventure. So my question now, how does one go about starting a blog that is specific to a profession? Do I ask my current readers, few as they are, to give me questions that I can try to answer from my point-of-view? Or do I just start writing about topics, and my opinions on them as an emerging museum professional? I might just do both - any questions I can try to answer? And I'll start thinking about topics and my point-of-view on them. July 4, 2011 at 8:26 AM. Texas, United States.

la dolce vita...: H.G. Wells
http://ajreed.blogspot.com/2010/07/hg-wells.html
The continuation of today's Twitter quote:. Looking at these stars suddenly dwarfed my own troubles and all the gravities of terrestrial life. I thought of their unfathomable distance, and the slow inevitable drift of their movements out of the unknown past into the unknown future.". HG Wells, The Time Machine. And yes, the author of this quote does make me think of Warehouse 13, why do you ask? Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). What's in my Google Reader? A Meandering Thought.or two.

la dolce vita...: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows
http://ajreed.blogspot.com/2011/07/harry-potter-and-deathly-hallows.html
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. It was a total lie. I read all 759 pages of Deathly Hallows in 7 hours. And then I lied to Mom about it. (Sorry Mom! Four years later I finally feel comfortable telling Momma that I lied to her about Harry Potter. I think she would have understood that I had stayed up all night reading the amazing final installment of this wonderful series, but working as a cashier at the only Wal-Mart in town on a Saturday morning? That would be amazing. What's in my Google Reader?

la dolce vita...: April 2009

Where do they come from? Do you ever wonder where certain expressions come from? It's as easy as shooting fish in a barrel. Umm, why are fish in a barrel? This was mentioned on a NCIS episode during the marathon I watched yesterday and I thought it was a good point. Sleep like a baby. You want to wake up crying every few hours? Sleep like a rock. I did not know that. It's always in the last place you look. Isn't it because you stop looking after you find it? It's an 'ABSOLUTELY FREE' product. Look at my ...

la dolce vita...: October 2009

There are very few things that will make me stop going to games of my favorite teams - especially when it comes to college football. But one sure thing is the display of class by the student section (or the lack of class, as the case may be). I am ashamed to say that I was in the student section at the Jones this past weekend because of the distinct lack of class displayed by the majority of the section. And the quarterback situation!
