Smiles, stuff and stress. Margate was my childhood, the place my mum would pack our bags and take us on the train for our holidays. Dreamland, Benbon brothers, whatever it was called it was a beautiful place full of magical rides, half I admit that scared me half to death! Margate was magical back then with its beautiful sandy beach, it was what childhood dreams were made of. Over the years the scenic railway was blighted by arson, it was heartbreaking to see. Years seemed to pass and a derelict site...

Smiles, stuff and stress. Transition to the North! A Londoner born and a Southerner bred and soon to be approaching my first year living up north again. The first stint doesn’t really count (it was rovrum) as a man in a pub once said, wath upon dearne, if it was part of the body it would be the arsehole. I lived in Margate, Kent for eighteen years, the longest I’ve settled anywhere, until now…. What a stunning place, living in Oughtibridge the scenery stares longingly at me every day. Truly beautiful.

Smiles, stuff and stress. Part of our history. Have you ever stood somewhere and thought about its past? The first time I went there was with my mum and brother…. Wednesday v Millwall now that’s going back a lot of years ago. Sat in the beer garden, the rain pouring down and tarpaulin covering over us, chips and gravy and a Bacardi and coke before the match. Smiles, stuff and stress. Never thought I’d say it. I’ve joined the gym…. Words I never thought would pass my lips and today is induction day. I’ve escaped exercise for years like it was a punishment and to me this is huge. Yes I was the one last to be picked in sport and the only things I was good at was hockey as no ones shins went past me. Strangely long distance running wasn’t too bad either and then there was football, that was always my favourite. September 30, 2015. Leave a Reply Cancel reply.
