You cannot judge of a tree by its WWOOF. Laura and Matt's experiences of WWOOFing in the UK and Ireland (and some other stuff! Wednesday, 27 July 2011. Tuesday, 5 July 2011. This weekend we put the knowledge we gained on our course last week into practice – and it all went surprisingly well! We even invented a whole new way of shearing…. Not quite sure what’s going to happen yet…. Peppermint was our first volunteer for a haircut, looking good! Pawn has some help from Liquorice. It’s all over!

The allotment has exploded into life and we have been enjoying delicious potatoes, lots of lettuces, yellow mange-tout, spinach, broad beans, radishes, spring onions, beetroot, celery, rhubarb, strawberries, blackcurrants, raspberry (just one so far! Worthy farm, Pilton, Somerset, no less! On Saturday we joined Kelly, Lucy, Phil and Will for some elderflower picking for Kelly’s business venture: The Festival Elderflower company. It was quite surreal, picking elderflowers in a field with the pyramid stage behind us! The cows are still enjoying the grass, before 180,000 revellers descend.

Over the weekend we walked round St Mary’s a bit more, then on Sunday took a trip to St Agnes and Gugh. We also took advantage of the low tides to scramble out to Burnt Island and the rock beyond with its day mark. Would you not want to prioritise doing something about that lot before you decided to devote your life to fighting the very existence of cows?

Effort: Close to 28 hours of driving. Took wrong route to enter Mysore: Lost 10 minutes. Took wrong decision to drive through Iritty Virajpet (Coorg) Mysore (Reversed back at Iritty) - Lost 2 hours. Took wrong decision to drive through Kabini - HD Kote - Mysore (Reversed the decision after looking at the road before Kabini) Lost 4 hours.
