Smith Adventures

Common Last Name, Uncommon Adventures! Sunday, June 14, 2015. Mr Lorax, don't look now! We had some major tree eating work done at our house. I couldn't help thinking about my tree class; my tree class professor, Dr. Allen; Wump World by Bill Pete, and of course The Lorax by Dr Seuss. And don't get me wrong, I love the right tree in the right spot. But our yard is WAY better without those gnarly, noxious, nasty trees! And it will be even better when we get rid of the cottonwoods! And this machine was COOL.

Smith Adventures: April 2014

http://www.smithadventures2010.blogspot.com/2014_04_01_archive.html

Common Last Name, Uncommon Adventures! Monday, April 21, 2014. Saturday we did a fun Easter egg hunt with Cosmo the cougar and the Easter Bunny! Weston stayed with Lily Anne and she was a pretty good egg gatherer. She was scooping them up and handing them to him as fast as she could. Then she was off to find more. Emily Smith and Family. Sunday, April 13, 2014. A Day with Grandpa at Rebecca's. It was a fun, sunny, relaxing day at Aunt Beccas. Thank you Bec for letting us come visit again!

Smith Adventures: January 2015

Common Last Name, Uncommon Adventures! Friday, January 23, 2015. I may need a remebrall. I may need a remebrall. But actually I did remember what I had forgotten, at 10:00pm Thursday night when I was going to go brush my teeth. I got to my toothbrush and then looked up, suddenly. Surely, I didn't forget. But yes, I had. But maybe Weston covered for me? Or maybe he had no idea. And that is just what Lily Anne did. This is where she ended up. To the drier. And promptly forgot about them. Ray and Jenni Cody.

Smith Adventures: November 2013

http://www.smithadventures2010.blogspot.com/2013_11_01_archive.html

Common Last Name, Uncommon Adventures! Friday, November 29, 2013. William doesn't actually read. But he has most of his books memorized, and he likes to "read" them to himself. (My favorite is hearing his little voice come out of my room during "bedroom time" before he falls asleep. He'll read books/sing to himself for quite a long time). I love his troll voice! Emily Smith and Family. For Family Home Evening this week we made a Thankful Turkey. These were the things William was thankful for:.

Smith Adventures: December 2013

http://www.smithadventures2010.blogspot.com/2013_12_01_archive.html

Common Last Name, Uncommon Adventures! Tuesday, December 24, 2013. This has been my project for the past few months and I’m so excited that its DONE! I had a lot of fun with this, but it has also been frustrating, time consuming, addicting, overwhelming, stretching…. Anyway, the pictures pretty much speak for themselves. I got the ideas from the quiet book we had growing up, pinterest, and my own ideas. ( www.pinterest.com/semilyanne ). Garden with Carrots, Potatoes, and radishes. Weave the pie crust.

Moments of Ruth (and Matthew): October 2013

http://ruthena.blogspot.com/2013_10_01_archive.html

Moments of Ruth (and Matthew). Thursday, October 17, 2013. September 2013 Media Inventory. Now that we're over halfway through October, I suppose I'd better hurry and post this. I may have less to say than usual. Megamind: Fun movie. I liked it. Mulan: One of my favorite Disneys! Great scenery, story, music, characters, etc. Lady and the Tramp: I loved this so much I wrote a post about it. The Fox and the Hound: Another one of my very favorites as a kid. It does make me cry. Howl's Moving Castle: Matthew...

http://ruthena.blogspot.com/2013/12/november-2013-media-inventory.html

Moments of Ruth (and Matthew). Tuesday, December 3, 2013. November 2013 Media Inventory. Only one more month to go! It's surprising how fast this year has gone by. And at the same time, the months and days seem to go pretty slowly. Here's what I watched and read in November:. Sorry, Wrong Number: This movie was surprisingly dark for an old classic. I thought I knew where it was going, and then- whoa. Labyrinth: What the weird. This film reminded me of something I would come up with in a dream after e...

Moments of Ruth (and Matthew). Saturday, April 6, 2013. March 2013 Media Inventory. Sorry T. S. Eliot, but March is totally the cruelest month. Cold, windy, snowy, and so much school. Thank goodness for books and movies. Amadeus: Can you believe I hadn't seen this in its entirety until now? Breaking Dawn (part 2): I had a lot of fun watching this with Matthew. We laughed, we poked fun, we cried (tears of LAUGHTER! And we totally bought into the fight scene, which, let's face it, was the best part. I ...

Moments of Ruth (and Matthew): September 2013

http://ruthena.blogspot.com/2013_09_01_archive.html

Moments of Ruth (and Matthew). Monday, September 9, 2013. Re-viewed: Lady and the Tramp. I have no idea why, but I've been on an old Disney movie kick lately. And I've been having a lot of surprising new discoveries in all my adult wisdom that never really impressed me as a child. Take for example, Lady and the Tramp:. 1 That song at the beginning makes me cry. Am I crazy emotional or is it crazy beautiful? Doesn't she occupy their bedroom now? 8 Peg is an awesome and intriguing character. She always...

Moments of Ruth (and Matthew). Sunday, March 3, 2013. February 2013 Media Inventory. He Loves Me, He Loves Me Not: When I found out Matthew hadn't seen this and we were in need of something appropriate for Valentine's Day, it was a no-brainer. Smart, creative, fun foreign movie with an oh so delightful tricky twist that still freaks me out every time. Johnny Guitar: Bit of a wild card as far as your traditional westerns go, but I liked it. A lot of conflict, emotion, violence, and some really crazy c...

http://ruthena.blogspot.com/2013_06_01_archive.html

Moments of Ruth (and Matthew). Friday, June 7, 2013. May 2013 Media Inventory. You will note the heavy Jane Austen emphasis during this month. I considered writing the entire entry in a Jane Austen voice in honor of her domination of my viewing and reading habits, but in the end decided such a feat must be left to a greater mind with more time and talent than the most ignorant person ever to dare to call herself a bloggeress. Silver Linings Playbook: Matthew and I really enjoyed this one. It's sweet,...

Moments of Ruth (and Matthew): July 2013

http://ruthena.blogspot.com/2013_07_01_archive.html

Moments of Ruth (and Matthew). Tuesday, July 30, 2013. 1 I was homeschooled my entire life until I went to college. 2 I went to college in the fall just after turning seventeen in the summer. I could easily have gone when I was sixteen, since I basically did nothing my sixteenth year after taking the ACT and applying to college. 4 I apparently could do the full splits when I was 3 years old. My mama said I surprised her visiting teacher, who thought I was broken or something. 9 I used to suck my index an...

http://ruthena.blogspot.com/2013_11_01_archive.html

Moments of Ruth (and Matthew). Thursday, November 7, 2013. October 2013 Media Inventory. Lincoln: Pretty good film. I was disappointed it only focused on a small part of Lincoln's story, but it did tell a compelling story, and I love anything to do with Civil War history. Ramona and Beezus: Such a cute film, and the beginning of my "Comfort Movie October Fest." I especially love the added romance between Aunt Bea and Uncle Hobart - it's like Ramona for adults! The Princess and the Frog: I love this movie!

Pura Vida

We moved to Monteverde, Costa Rica on 18 October 2004. Within a week I was pregnant with our second child. It's been a whirlwind of an experience! We won't ever have to look back and say, "There was this one time we were gonna move to Costa Rica.". Tuesday, August 01, 2006. I doubt that I will ever truly love the smell of patchouli so maybe that makes me an aspiring hippie or a non-hippie with hippie tendencies. Thursday, June 29, 2006.
