Last year on our September trip we found a very nice place to stay, Linville Falls Lodge. But we were just passing through, on a big loop from our home in Wheeling, WV to Deals Gap and back home. The canyon run is 15 miles with lots of Class II and a few Class IIIs. We call this the Manly Canoe Trip!
