http://freshfromflorence.blogspot.com/2008_08_01_archive.html
The Wanderlust of a Wellesley Girl. Thursday, August 14, 2008. If you don't like the sea. and don't care for the mountains. and don't like the big city either. go hang yourself! In case I haven't yet personally rubbed it in your face, I'm going to study abroad in Florence next semester. Your preferable reaction to this news is jealousy. Pack said suitcase with necessary sundries. Get a gift for my host family. Gather important documents/ insure that I have all important documents. Livin like a lonestar.

Fresh from Florence: "In this big, epic movie - everyone is an extra."

The Wanderlust of a Wellesley Girl. Wednesday, November 26, 2008. In this big, epic movie - everyone is an extra.". Saturday I went to Lucca, which is a beautiful medieval town surrounded by it’s original city walls. To get in, you have to walk through these super-old winding tunnels. I visited the Boboli Gardens with my comedy class. They're incredible. And I've realized that the only time I see trees in Florence is when I'm in a garden. I miss foliage. This was Marilyn Monroe's bustier. I'm a senior at...

Fresh from Florence: September 2008
http://freshfromflorence.blogspot.com/2008_09_01_archive.html
The Wanderlust of a Wellesley Girl. Sunday, September 28, 2008. Mosaics and Modern Art. Though you can't tell from the photo, we're in front of Santa Croce. The church and piazza are beautiful. Last weekend, we saw a puppet show there (there's a video clip of said show at the bottom of the page). Last Friday I went to Ravenna and looked at early Christian mosaics and ate amazing pasta with gorgonzola cheese and hazelnuts. It was as good as it sounds. This is me walking around a piece called "The Rings of...

Fresh from Florence: C'est si bon
http://freshfromflorence.blogspot.com/2008/11/cest-si-bon.html
The Wanderlust of a Wellesley Girl. Tuesday, November 4, 2008. For the record, an actual overnight train was nothing like in Some Like It Hot. It was cramped and smelly and arrived in Paris three hours late. But it got us to Paris. We made dinner in the apartment we rented (and I use the term "we" loosely as the only thing I did was chop up veggies) and accidentally made an obscene amount of rice, but it was delicious. We went to the Louvre Friday night:. And here is the mob of people swarming her:.

Fresh from Florence: October 2008
http://freshfromflorence.blogspot.com/2008_10_01_archive.html
The Wanderlust of a Wellesley Girl. Sunday, October 19, 2008. Copious Consumption of Cheese and Chocolate. Last weekend I went to Parma with my Comedy in Italy class. We visited this beautiful Farnese theater. They used to fill up the bottom with water for re-enactments of sea battles, like at the Coliseum. Then we went to the puppet museum. Totally as great as it sounds, but a little creepy. These are the Italian version of Muppets:. And here's a somewhat frightening wall of puppets:. And The Dark Knight.

Fresh from Florence: Roman Holiday
http://freshfromflorence.blogspot.com/2008/11/roman-holiday.html
The Wanderlust of a Wellesley Girl. Monday, November 10, 2008. The Vatican Museums are crazy-huge. And they're crammed with the most amazing stuff from all corners of the globe. This pine cone is from ancient Rome and the lions are Egyptian. So basically, they just took things from all different cultures and religions and incorporated them into Catholicism. This is one of the many endless hallways of miscellaneous marble sculpture in the Vatican Museums. And Raphael's School of Athens. We went to a delic...
